Long-Term Extension Study of the Effects of SCH 527123 in Subjects With Moderate to Severe COPD

2014-07-24 14:11:01 | BioPortfolio

Summary

Neutrophils are thought to play an important role in the pathophysiology of COPD. It is theorized that reducing neutrophil migration to the diseased lung will improve a subject's symptoms and the natural history of the disease.

Study of SCH 527123 in Subjects With Severe Asthma (Study P05109AM1)

Given the strong inhibition of SCH 527123 on neutrophil migration to sites of inflammation, there is a theoretical reason for its use in patients with severe asthma where neutrophils are t...

Two-Part Study to Evaluate the Dose Response of SCH 527123 on Sputum Neutrophilia Following Ozone Challenge in Healthy Subjects and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Patients (P05567 AM7)

Trial to evaluate the dose response of SCH 527123 in reducing inflammation from an ozone-induced sputum neutrophilia in both healthy subjects and subjects with COPD.

Study to Evaluate the Safety and Dose-Range of SCH 527123 in Subjects With Moderate to Severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) (Study P04592AM4)(COMPLETED)

This is a two-part study conducted at multiple centers, in subjects with moderate to severe COPD. Part 1 of the study is a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, rising-dose study ...

Efficacy and Safety of SCH 527123 in Subjects With Allergen-Induced Asthma (Study P05363)(COMPLETED)

Evaluation of treatment in subjects with mild asthma.

Neutrophilic Asthma Study With SCH 527123 (Study P05365AM2)(COMPLETED)

A Randomized Clinical Trial Comparing the ELLIPTA and HandiHaler Dry Powder Inhalers in Patients With COPD: Inhaler-Specific Attributes and Overall Patient Preference.

This randomised, open-label, cross-over, placebo-containing inhaler study assessed patient preference indicators for ELLIPTA and HandiHaler dry powder inhalers in patients with COPD (NCT02786927; GSK ...

The p38 mitogen activated protein kinase inhibitor losmapimod in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients with systemic inflammation, stratified by fibrinogen: A randomised double-blind placebo-controlled trial.

Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in COPD patients. Systemic inflammation associated with COPD, is often hypothesised as a causal factor. p38 mitogen-activated protein...

Influence of muscle mass in the assessment of lower limb strength in COPD: validation of the prediction equation.

Absence of established reference values limits application of quadriceps maximal voluntary contraction (QMVC) measurement. The impact of muscle mass inclusion in predictions is unclear. Prediction equ...

Hormonal and neuromuscular responses during a singles match in male professional tennis players.

We sought to measure the response of cortisol concentrations around a professional tennis match and its association with hydration status and neuromuscular performance. Nine professional male tennis p...

Association of thrombocytosis with COPD morbidity: the SPIROMICS and COPDGene cohorts.

Thrombocytosis has been associated with COPD prevalence and increased all-cause mortality in patients with acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD); but whether it is associated with morbidity in stable CO...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Misunderstanding among individuals, frequently research subjects, of scientific methods such as randomization and placebo controls.

An effect usually, but not necessarily, beneficial that is attributable to an expectation that the regimen will have an effect, i.e., the effect is due to the power of suggestion.

A disease of chronic diffuse irreversible airflow obstruction. Subcategories of COPD include CHRONIC BRONCHITIS and PULMONARY EMPHYSEMA.

Polymers made up of a few (2-20) nucleotides. In molecular genetics, they refer to a short sequence synthesized to match a region where a mutation is known to occur, and then used as a probe (OLIGONUCLEOTIDE PROBES). (Dorland, 28th ed)

Mechanical ventilation delivered to match the patient's efforts in breathing as detected by the interactive ventilation device.
