Evaluation of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound to Detect Endoleaks After Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm Repair

2014-08-27 03:18:16 | BioPortfolio

Summary

This study will be a cross-sectional survey of interobserver variability associated with contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) to detect endoleaks using computed tomographic angiography (CTA) as the practice standard. The investigators will enroll 40 consecutive patients undergoing endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR). At the first follow-up visit after the procedure, participants will undergo two abdominal ultrasound examinations with and without contrast, and one CTA. Analyses will be conducted to examine interobserver variability in the detection and characterization of endoleaks using contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS). Other endpoints include examination of sensitivity and specificity of CEUS compared to CTA, and characterization of the number and types of endoleaks detected.

Prevention of Endoleaks Using Autologous Platelet Gel on Unruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

The main risk of aortic aneurysms is rupture that leads to a high risk of death. A preventive surgical treatment is thus needed. In order to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated w...

Late type II endoleaks after endovascular aneurysm repair require intervention more frequently than early type II endoleaks.

Type II endoleaks (T2ELs) are commonly observed after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). We sought to determine whether time at onset of T2ELs correlated with the need to intervene based on sac expa...

The influence of four or more patent lumbar arteries on persistent type II endoleak and sac expansion after EVAR.

This study aimed to review our clinical results and determine how preoperative patent lumbar arteries (LAs) influence the occurrence of type II endoleaks or aneurysm sac enlargement after endovascular...

Sizing considerations for GORE Excluder in angulated aortic aneurysm necks.

Device selection for endovascular treatment of AAAs with necks >60 degrees is challenging. We sought to identify whether such anatomy necessitated graft oversizing during (EVAR), and whether this incr...

ENDOVASCULAR AORTIC ANEURYSM REPAIR AT JOHANNESBURG ACADEMIC HOSPITALS.

A COMPARISON OF RADIATION EXPOSURE DURING ENDOVASCULAR AORTIC ANEURYSM REPAIR WITH OR WITHOUT ENDOSTAPLING.
