Investigate the therapeutic effects of 600 mg bid po of N-acetylcysteine on early outcomes of deceased renal transplant patients regarding oxidative stress and renal function.
Adult primary graft recipients of deceased renal donors will be randomly assign to treatment (NAC) or control group and prospectively evaluated for 90 days. Treatment group will receive N-acetylcysteine 600 mg bid po from 0 to 7th postoperative day (PO). Renal function will be determined by serum creatinine, Cockroft-Gault estimated GFR (eGFR) at 7th, 15th, 30th, 60th and 90th PO and dialysis free Kaplan-Meier estimate curve. Serum levels of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), which are markers of lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress, will be determined using the thiobarbituric acid assay from 0-7th PO. Statistical analysis will be performed using SPSS 16.0.
Allocation: Randomized, Endpoint Classification: Efficacy Study, Intervention Model: Parallel Assignment, Masking: Double Blind (Investigator, Outcomes Assessor), Primary Purpose: Prevention

The aim of this interventional, prospective, randomized clinical trial is to evaluate the impact of the antioxidant N-acetylcysteine on oxidative stress in the first seven postoperative da...
The purpose of this study is to determine whether N-acetylcysteine is effective in the prophylaxis of post-cardiopulmonary bypass acute renal impairment.
The purpose of this study is to determine if Acetylcysteine is effective in preventing renal failure associated with cardiac surgery
N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is used to treat Tylenol toxicity. NAC is a rich source of the sulfhydryl group (SH) which is important for replenishing the body's glutathione stores. Glutathione a...
This is a randomised controlled trial to investigate the efficacy of preventive regimen of hydration with high dose oral N-acetylcysteine and intravenous sodium bicarbonate pretreatment in...
Aortoiliac occlusive disease and abdominal aortic aneurysm in patients with renal insufficiency on hemodialysis can significantly influence the success of renal transplantation. In the recent past, ad...
Renal transplantation (RT) reduces morbidity and mortality in patients with end-stage renal failure. Myocardial perfusion imaging provides prognostic information in patients with renal failure, but it...
Obesity induces or accelerates diabetes (DBT), hypertension (HT), and dyslipidemia (DSL), which are the main causes of renal failure. Obesity exacerbates in patients after renal transplantation (RT), ...
For potential transplant recipients with a prior history of renal malignancy, no evidence-based recommendations currently exist with regard to waiting duration on dialysis. We aim to improve decision ...
Neurological complications from renal replacement therapy contribute significantly to morbidity and mortality in patients with renal failure. Such complications can affect either the central or periph...
General dysfunction of an organ occurring immediately following its transplantation. The term most frequently refers to renal dysfunction following KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION.
Preparative treatment of transplant recipient with various conditioning regimens including radiation, immune sera, chemotherapy, and/or immunosuppressive agents, prior to transplantation. Transplantation conditioning is very common before bone marrow transplantation.
Transfer of HEMATOPOIETIC STEM CELLS from BONE MARROW or BLOOD between individuals within the same species (TRANSPLANTATION, HOMOLOGOUS) or transfer within the same individual (TRANSPLANTATION, AUTOLOGOUS). Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation has been used as an alternative to BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION in the treatment of a variety of neoplasms.
A diuretic and renal diagnostic aid related to sorbitol. It has little significant energy value as it is largely eliminated from the body before any metabolism can take place. It can be used to treat oliguria associated with kidney failure or other manifestations of inadequate renal function and has been used for determination of glomerular filtration rate. Mannitol is also commonly used as a research tool in cell biological studies, usually to control osmolarity.
An organism that, as a result of transplantation of donor tissue or cells, consists of two or more cell lines descended from at least two zygotes. This state may result in the induction of donor-specific TRANSPLANTATION TOLERANCE.
Organ transplantation is the moving of an organ from one body to another or from a donor site to another location on the patient's own body, for the purpose of replacing the recipient's damaged or absent organ. The emerging field of regenerative ...
