Summary

This is a phase 2, randomized, active-controlled, parallel-group, multicenter, single-blind trial of three different doses of etonogestrel releasing medicated intrauterine systems (ENG-MIUS) in healthy parous women in need for contraception.

The primary trial objective is to explore safety and acceptability of three doses of an ENG-releasing medicated intrauterine system (ENG-MIUS) as compared to Multiload-cu 375®.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Cell surface proteins that bind corticotropin-releasing hormone with high affinity and trigger intracellular changes which influence the behavior of cells. The corticotropin releasing-hormone receptors on anterior pituitary cells mediate the stimulation of corticotropin release by hypothalamic corticotropin releasing factor. The physiological consequence of activating corticotropin-releasing hormone receptors on central neurons is not well understood.

Cell surface receptors that bind thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) with high affinity and trigger intracellular changes which influence the behavior of cells. Activated TRH receptors in the anterior pituitary stimulate the release of thyrotropin (thyroid stimulating hormone, TSH); TRH receptors on neurons mediate neurotransmission by TRH.

Fluoride-releasing restorative materials made by the sintering of metal (usually silver) particles to glass ionomer powder. Glass ionomers are fluoride-releasing cements that are not very durable. Sintering of the metal particles is a means of improving those physical properties that will make the glass ionomer cement more durable.
