Summary

Maintaining a low central venous pressure during living donor hepatectomy is routine practice. The investigators tried to test the hypothesis that using milrinone to maintain a low central venous pressure (CVP) during is associated with a superior surgical field and less blood loss.

Milrinone in Addition to Hyperdynamic Therapy in the Treatment of Vasospasm Following Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of adding Milrinone to the current standard treatment for cerebral vasospasm.

Safety of Intravenous Milrinone for the Treatment of Subarachnoid Hemorrhage-induced Vasospasm

The aim of this study is to evaluate the tolerance of intravenous milrinone combined to the current standard treatment for cerebral vasospasm following subarachnoid hemorrhage. Assessment ...

Nebulized Inhaled Milrinone in a Hospitalized Advanced Heart Failure Population Awaiting Cardiac Transplantation

Patients with end stage heart failure have significant symptoms (including fatigue and shortness of breath) which prevent them from being able to perform most activities of daily living. M...

Effects of Levosimendan and Milrinone on Left and Right Ventricular Function in Septic Cardiomyopathy

The aim of this study is to compare the effects of milrinone(Corotrope) and levosimendan(Simdax) on septic cardiomyopathy using pulmonary artery catheter, conventional and strain echocardi...

Milrinone in Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia

Infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) usually have pulmonary hypoplasia and persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) leading to hypoxemic respiratory failure (H...

Milrinone-associated Cardiomyopathy and Arrhythmia in Cerebral Vasospasm.

Milrinone is an inotropic and vasodilatory drug proven safe for use in the treatment of cerebral vasospasm. Despite its reported safety profile, its use is not free of side effects. Milrinone-associat...

Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Nebulized and Intratracheal Milrinone in a Swine Model of Hypercapnia Pulmonary Hypertension.

Milrinone pulmonary administration is used currently for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension. Several methods are available: simple jet nebulization, vibrating mesh nebulization, intratracheal ins...

Acute Kidney Injury Biomarkers Predict an Increase in Serum Milrinone Concentration Earlier Than Serum Creatinine-Defined Acute Kidney Injury in Infants After Cardiac Surgery.

Milrinone, an inotropic agent used ubiquitously in children after cardiac surgery, accumulates in acute kidney injury (AKI). We assessed if urinary AKI biomarkers are predictive of an increase in milr...

Is Enhanced One-Stage Hepatectomy a Safe and Feasible Alternative to the Two-Stage Hepatectomy in the Setting of Multiple Bilobar Colorectal Liver Metastases? A Comparative Analysis between Two Pioneering Centers.

Two-stage hepatectomy (TSH) is the present standard for multiple bilobar colorectal metastases (CLM). As alternative, ultrasound-guided one-stage hepatectomy (E-OSH) has been proposed even for deep-lo...

Laparoscopic hepatectomy versus open hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma in 157 patients: A case controlled study with propensity score matching at two Chinese centres.

The aim of this study was to investigate the long-term outcomes and perioperative outcomes of laparoscopic hepatectomy (LH) versus open hepatectomy (OH) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) between well...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A positive inotropic cardiotonic agent with vasodilator properties. It inhibits cAMP phosphodiesterase activity in myocardium and vascular smooth muscle. Milrinone is a derivative of amrinone and has 20-30 times the ionotropic potency of amrinone.

Excision of all or part of the liver. (Dorland, 28th ed)

Misunderstanding among individuals, frequently research subjects, of scientific methods such as randomization and placebo controls.

An effect usually, but not necessarily, beneficial that is attributable to an expectation that the regimen will have an effect, i.e., the effect is due to the power of suggestion.
