Normal Lacritin Levels in Human Tears- Development of a New Clinical Assay

2014-07-23 21:29:06 | BioPortfolio

Summary

Purpose: to build a library of normal tear lacritin values by collecting tears from normal adult human subjects and to develop a non-invasive clinical assay for lacritin. Such an assay will provide more sensitive indicators of eye disease for clinicians and determine if a particular therapy, such as recombinant lacritin drops, is of benefit.

Lacritin and Heparanase Levels in Human Tears After Laser Refractive Surgery

The purpose of this study is to measure tear lacritin and heparanase levels before and following surgery using a minimal risk procedure to collect tears from patients undergoing PRK or LAS...

Pilot Study Evaluation of 2 Artificial Tears. Evaluation of TBUT, Tear Meniscus Height and Tear Thickness

To determine baseline tear thickness and improvement immediately post installation of two artificial tear solutions:(9582X) and Allergan Refresh Tears.

Effects of Two Tear Substitutes in Patients With Dry Eye Syndrome

With the potential to address evaporative dry eye, Liposic and Tears Naturale Forte have been developed in which phospholipid liposomes are delivered to the tear film via the surface of th...

Comparison of the Clinical Effects of Two Tear Substitutes in Patients With Dry Eye Syndrome

With the potential to address evaporative dry eye, Liposic and Tears Naturale Forte have been developed in which phospholipid liposomes are delivered to the tear film via the surface of th...

Tears Substitutions and Their Effects on Higher Order Aberrometery

Hypothesis is that tear substitutions cause blur after they are instilled. The investigators will use aberrometry as a measurement over time after a tear formulation is used and try to det...

Clusterin from human clinical tear samples: Positive correlation between tear concentration and Schirmer strip test results.

To investigate the relationship between tear concentration of the homeostatic protein clusterin (CLU) and dry eye signs and symptoms, and to characterize tear CLU protein.

Predicting meniscal tear stability across knee-joint flexion using finite-element analysis.

To analyse the stress distribution through longitudinal and radial meniscal tears in three tear locations in weight-bearing conditions and use it to ascertain the impact of tear location and type on t...

Effects of Tendon Degeneration on Predictions of Supraspinatus Tear Propagation.

Rotator cuff tendons undergo degeneration with age, which could have an impact on tear propagation. The objective of this study was to predict tear propagation for different levels of tissue degenerat...

Investigation of the global protein content from healthy human tears.

Considering absence of invasiveness and side effects, tears emerge as a particularly attractive fluid for biomarker discovery and therefore for daily clinical use. However, to date this fluid remains ...

Characterization of tear production in subjects with dry eye disease during intranasal tear neurostimulation: Results from two pivotal clinical trials.

The intranasal tear neurostimulator (ITN) activates the nasolacrimal pathway, which is involved with basal and bolus tear secretion. These studies characterized the acute and long-term effectiveness o...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

The tear-forming and tear-conducting system which includes the lacrimal glands, eyelid margins, conjunctival sac, and the tear drainage system.

Small devices that are inserted into the tear ducts (NASOLACRIMAL DUCTS). They are used to block the drainage of TEARS for the treatment of DRY EYE SYNDROMES.

Forcible or traumatic tear or break of an organ or other soft part of the body.

An anterior capsulolabral injury associated with a tear of the anteroinferior GLENOID LABRUM.

Tear or break of an organ, vessel or other soft part of the body, occurring in the absence of external force.
