Diagnosing and documenting the presence of abnormal change in cognitive functions (such as reasoning abilities) in children over time is of upmost importance when it comes to evaluating the impact of neurological injury, disease, and interventions designed to help improve wellbeing. Unfortunately however, current methods for detecting cognitive impairment and monitoring for abnormal cognitive change in children over time are seriously flawed. By assessing typically developing c...
To investigate whether 40 IU of intranasal oxytocin treatment can influence the resting-state functional connectivity in healthy males.
This study seeks to assess the mechanisms of change of Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP). FAP is a process-outcome psychotherapy that focuses on the therapeutic relationship, providing services to participants presenting with difficulties in their social interactions and relationships. A multiple baseline design between four participants who report interpersonal relating difficulties and psychological distress will be conducted. Therapists will provide contingent reinforc...
Improved Assessment of Visual Field Change is a trial aimed at investigating mechanisms of visual field testing variability. We have found using larger stimulus size substantially lowers short-term variability. In this study, we will determine if larger stimuli detect visual field change at an earlier time. We are also developing a statistical model that accounts for correlations of neighboring test locations.
In this study 24 adult males and adult females, with overall healthy condition, will consume approximately 30 grams of wild rice every day for 28 days. Cardiovascular risk factors will be assessed at the beginning and at the end of the study.
This study will evaluate the effect of a single dose of sitagliptin on glucose dependent insulin secretion using a meal tolerance test (MTT) during a hyperglycemic clamp (HCG) procedure.
This study will evaluate the extent to which we can engage and manipulate putative targets within the self-regulation domain within and outside of laboratory settings in samples of smokers and overweight/obese individuals with binge eating disorder. This is the fourth phase of a study that aims to identify putative mechanisms of behavior change to develop an overarching "ontology" of self-regulatory processes.
The changes in the organisms making up the gut microbiota in infants who are taking anti-acid reflux medications (histamine 2 receptor antagonists) as compared to infants who are not taking these medications is not well-studied or understood. Whether these medications change the gut microbiota and microbiome, and what that change may imply for children on these medications, is the focus of this study.

Preoperative anxiety itself is not a mental illness, but studies have confirmed that the occurrence of preoperative anxiety and postoperative co...
Purpose To measure the impedance of the bladder during the urodynamic study to see if changes in the impedance value occur as the bladder volume changes in pediatric patients aged 5-12 years along with its leg time. In addition, during the urodynamics test, the heart rate is measured at the same time to confirm the pulse change due to the filling of the bladder. -Background of the study (Method of identifying urinary bladder using impedance) In order to overcome the lim...
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of three different doses of TMC435350 compared to placebo in healthy Japanese males.
This study will evaluate whether a newer treatment, rumination-focused cognitive behavioral treatment, which includes mindfulness and can be used to reduce ruminative habits, change ways in which key brain regions interact with each other (e.g.., often called connectivity), and whether these changes in habits and brain connectivity can reduce the risk for recurrence of depression in the next two years.

Intermittent catheterization is a well-known method used for emptying the bladder. The objective of this study is to compare the residual urine after intermittent catheterisation with 2 different, hydrophilic coated, intermittent catheters. The study is a randomized, single blinded, crossover study including 24 healthy males.

The proposed project will document the degree of function decline, assess the relationship between function and cancer- related symptoms and evaluate relationships between function and quality of life. Participants are evaluated before therapy, after therapy and again 3 months post therapy to evaluate functional change. Knowledge gained will help us plan interventions around the time of cancer therapy to help older adults preserve or improve function.
