All patients had mild to moderate hypertension and are receiving antihypertensive agents. This study was designed to investigate effects of Adalat GITS on hemodialytic blood pressures in patients with chronic hemodialysis by using ABPM and measuring the drug plasma concentrations. For the purpose of investigating th...

Comparison of Four and Eight Hours Dialysis Sessions in Thrice Weekly Hemodialysis

The investigators hypothesize that an increase in the duration of dialysis session in thrice weekly center hemodialysis may provide better outcome, less morbidity, higher quality of life, lesser requirement of medications, and lower total cost.

The Effects of Acetylcysteine on Alleviating Damage of Oxidative Stress in Hemodialysis Patients

The aim of this study is to explore and identify the effects of acetylcysteine, a common mucolytic with anti-oxidant property, on alleviating the damage caused by increased oxidative stress in hemodialysis patients.

The Effect of Hemodialysis on Hearing

The inner ear contains transporters that are responsible for maintaining a strict homeostatic environment, necessary for transmission and transduction of sound waves. Hemodialysis affects the body's composition including the aspects regulated by these transporters (pH, osmolarity, Na, K). We wish to observe if hemodialysis affects hearing, and if so, by which parameters.

Hypertension in Hemodialysis Patients (Aim 3)

We will directly test the hypothesis that an initial strategy of lisinopril-based therapy will be more effective than atenolol-based therapy in causing regression of LVH over one year in patients with hemodialysis hypertension despite similar degree of BP reduction.

Slit Lamp Model SL-D-301 and DC-4 Digital Camera Attachment

The purpose of the evaluation is to confirm operability and usability of the SL-D301 Slit Lamp and the DC-4 digital camera attachment by conducting a usability evaluation and subsequently submitting a questionnaire and hold an interview with the operator. Of special interest for the study is to confirm whether the illumination level of SL-D301 is enough to perform an eye exam since the maximum illumination level on the SL-D301 is lower than other existing Topcon digital ready ...

Use of ABI-007 for the Prevention of Vascular Access Graft Failure in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis

This study is designed to confirm the safety of the proposed dose and schedule of ABI-007 for hemodialysis patients with vascular access device failure, and to obtain preliminary data on the effectiveness of such treatment.

Health Effects of oraL Protein Supplements in HD (The HELPS-HD Trial)

To conduct a pragmatic randomized clinical trial in which the researchers will determine the mortality impact of a protocol whereby all hemodialysis patients receive an oral, protein-based nutritional supplement during the dialysis procedure as compared to the existing nutritional protocol whereby only hemodialysis patients with serum albumin below 3.5 g/dL and incident hemodialysis patients during the first months of care receive an oral, intradialytic protein-based nutritiona...

The Effect of Different Dosages of Solute Clearance on Outcome in Twice Weekly Hemodialysis Patients

Adequacy of solute clearance makes a profound impact on clinical outcome in maintenance hemodialysis patients. Thus far, guidelines on the target of solute clearance (Kt/V or URR) are based on patients with three dialysis sessions per week. However, quite a few patients have their dialysis sessions twice per week in China. The dialysis target of solute clearance in this population remains to be elucidated. The aim of this study was to explore the optimum target solute clearance...

T Wave Alternans in Hemodialysis

The purpose of this study is to determine if the hemodialysis procedure changes the risk for cardiac arrest in patients.

The Effects of Resistance Exercise and Protein Supplementation in Hemodialysis Patients

The objective of this study is to determine how protein supplementation, with or without exercise, affects functional capacity, strength, body composition, and physical activity in hemodialysis patients.
