Double Blind Atorvastatin Amlodipine Study

To evaluate and compare the safety and efficacy of amlodipine, atorvastatin and the combination in patients with symptomatic myocardial ischemia. Amlodipine's use in angina has been well documented in clinical trials such as the Circadian Anti-Ischemia Program in Europe (CAPE), but the impact on vascular inflammation in clinical practice has not been tested. Furthermore, the potentially synergistic benefit of atorvastatin and amlodipine on inflammation ischemic activity has n...

Educational Intervention in Patients With Migraine

Introduction: Despite the numerous pharmacological treatment options available for migraine attacks and for the prevention of thereof, less than 30% of patients with migraine are highly satisfied with their current treatment. In recent decades, there has been a radical change in the way we view pain, thanks to developments in neuroscience. It is currently considered that pain does not originate in the peripheral nociceptors, but rather in a network of brain regions (the pain n...

While depression is the leading cause of disability for both males and females, the burden of ...

Computerized Treatment for Social Anxiety

Individuals with a diagnosis of social anxiety disorder (N = 50) will be randomized to one of two conditions: 1) IBM or 2) progressive muscle relaxation. Each condition will consist of eight 25 minute treatme...

The Genetic and Life Style Determinants of Bone Mass of Young Greek Males

The genetic bases of peak bone mass in males, as determinants of an individual’s risk of developing osteoporotic fractures in old age and their interaction with dietary and lifestyle factors are still poorly understood. Our objective was to examine the relative contribution of genetic and environmental variables to the regulation of peak bone mass in a population-based cohort of young healthy men, focusing on the BsmI polymorphism of vitamin D receptor (VDR)gene and the AluI...

Real-time Sensorimotor Feedback for Injury Prevention in Males Assessed in Virtual Reality

Even though females are 2- to 10-times more likely to suffer an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, males represent the largest population of total ACL injuries. Consequently, there is a larger population of males that endure significant pain, functional limitations, and radiographic signs of knee osteoarthritis (OA) within 12 to 20 years of injury. To reduce the burden of OA, The National Public Health Agenda for Osteoarthritis recommends expanding and refining evidence-b...
