Multiple myeloma is a rare form of malignancy in which neoplastic plasma cells accumulate in the bone marrow. Most malignant plasma cells continue to produce immunoglobulin. The activity of multiple myeloma can therefore usually be monitored easily by serial measurement of the serum paraprotein levels. Except for a few patients who receive a donor bone marrow transplant, multiple myeloma remains incurable despite intensive chemotherapy. Its course is typically marked by periods...

This study will also evaluate response rates, time to progression, molecular response, and immunologic parameters related to this treatment.will have an ocular exam prior to treatment. Patients in this study will receive 6 cycles of combination chemotherapy with the standard...
This is a randomized, double-blind, multicenter trial testing 2 doses of PEG-Intron, 1.0mcg/kg/week and 3.0mcg/kg/week in heavily treatment-experienced HIV-infected patients compared to placebo. The study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of PEG-Intron when added to stable optimized background antiretroviral therapy in this patient population.
The purpose of this study is to see if PEG-Intron is safe and tolerated when given to children, to see how much gets into the blood and how long it stays in the blood, and to see how well it works to reduce viral load (level of HIV in the blood). PEG-Intron is an experimental drug that works differently than other anti-HIV medications. It decreases the ability of HIV to infect the T cells (a special type of cell that helps fight infection). PEG-Intron has been approved by the ...
This is an open label, randomized, comparative, multi-center study. Subjects will be screened within 2 weeks prior to study entry to establish eligibility. Subjects who meet all the selection criteria will be randomly assigned 1:1 to (1) once-a-week, subcutaneous Peg-Intron (1.5 mg/kg body weight) or (2) oral adefovir 10 mg daily. The treatment phase will be 24 weeks for Peg-Intron and 48 weeks for adefovir. All subjects completing the assigned treatment phase will be follo...
The goal of this clinical research study is to find the best dosing schedule of a combined treatment of PEG Intron® (pegylated Interferon-alfa 2b) plus a peptide vaccine (gp100) that may help improve immune response in patients that had Stage II or Stage III melanoma and are free of the disease. The safety and tolerability of this drug combination will also be studied. Primary Objective: To explore the biological optimal dosing schedule of PEG Intron, when combined wi...
Melanoma with a tumor thickness >= 1.5mm without clinically detectable nodes represents an increasing population with relapse rate of more than 50%. Adjuvant therapy with low doses of IFN alpha can provide a benefit in this group. However, the impact of low dose IFN alpha is not sustained after the treatment period. A longer treatment may prolong the benefit and thus have a more clear-cut impact on disease-free and overall survival. The tolerance and the impact on quality of li...
This is an open-label, single-arm, multicenter Phase II safety and efficacy study of combination therapy with pembrolizumab and PEG-Intron (Peginterferon alpha-2b) in patients with advanced cholangiocarcinoma who have progressed on or cannot tolerate frontline chemotherapy. PEG-Intron will be administered to patients as a 3ug/kg (subject to possible dose modification) subcutaneous injection weekly, while pembrolizumab will be administered as a 200mg IV infusion once every three...
To determine the relapse rate at 24 weeks follow up in HCV LVL G1 patients treated for 24 weeks with Peg Intron and Rebetol who are HCV-RNA negative at treatment week 4 and week 24. To determine the proportion of patients (%) with sustained virological response at 24 weeks post follow up treatment. Patients in whom relapse occurs during the 24 week follow-up phase will be offered up to 48 weeks of retreatment with Peg-Intron plus ribavirin.
The primary objective is to assess the safety, efficacy and tolerability of the combination of PEG-Intron plus REBETOL in pediatric subjects with chronic hepatitis C. The secondary objective is to measure the multiple-dose pharmacokinetics of PEG-Intron and REBETOL in pediatric subjects with chronic hepatitis C.
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if giving PEG-Alpha Interferon (PEG-Intron) and Sargramostim (GM-CSF) to patients receiving treatment with high dose Gleevec (imatinib mesylate) is more effective in treating CML in chronic phase than therapy with imatinib mesylate alone.
This randomized phase II trial studies hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy or intraperitoneal chemotherapy in improving quality of life in patients with stage IIIC-IV ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer. In hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, the chemotherapy is warmed before being used and may help the drugs get into the cancer cells better, minimize the toxicity of the drugs on normal cells, and help to kill any cancer cells left over after surg...
This study is for slow growing tumors called plexiform neurofibromas (PNF) which are a relatively common problem in people with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). These tumors are benign but as they grow, they can become disfiguring as well as disabling or even life threatening. They often cause pain, difficulty using arms or legs because of spinal cord compression, and/or nerve damage. At present, the only available therapy for plexiform neurofibromas is to try to surgically r...
The APROVE study is a prospective single-center single-arm phase-II study. Patients with cervical or endometrial cancer after surgical resection who have an indication for postoperative pelvic radiotherapy will be treated with proton therapy instead of the commonly used photon radiation. A total of 25 patients will be included in this trial. Patients will receive a dose of 45-50.4 Gray in 1.8 Gray fractions 5-6 times per week using active raster-scanning pencil beam proton radi...
This is an international multi-center prospective, double randomized, open, controlled phase III study with a phase II entrance phase to compare the therapeutic efficacy of thalidomide plus dexamethasone to conventional melphalan plus prednisone in newly diagnosed myeloma patients.
The purpose of this study is to establish the pharmacokinetics of PEG-Intron, administered at a dose of 6 μg/kg/week for 8 weeks (induction treatment), followed by a dose of 3 μg/kg/week for up to 252 weeks (maintenance treatment), in patients with high risk melanoma.
The purpose of this study is to see if it is effective to give PEG-Intron (PEG-IFN) to HIV-infected patients who are not doing well with their current anti-HIV drug combination (HAART).
This randomized, single-center, controlled study is designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of treatment with Peg-Intron with Rebetol in methadone or buprenorphine maintenance patients with hepatitis C.
This study will evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of PEGASYS plus ribavirin in patients with CHC who could not tolerate or were not responsive to 12 weeks of therapy with PEG-Intron plus ribavirin. The anticipated time on study treatment is 1-2 years, and the target sample size is >100 individuals.
In this study Peg-Intron will be tested to see if it will give better results than Colchicine. At this time, there is currently no recommended maintenance treatment for patients who have failed to respond to Interferon/Rebetron/Peg Intron and have advanced fibrosis. The purpose of this study is to compare two treatments to slow down the progression of liver disease and to prevent liver failure and liver cancer. The treatment will not cure Hepatitis C, but is being evaluated ...
