This study is a prospective non-interventional, multi-centre study of the Vascutek Fenestrated Anaconda™ system, and is essentially a post-market study. The Vascutek Fenestrated Anaconda™ system is a custom made device used for the treatment of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the clinical performance of the new restorative F-Composite 2 system for Class I and Class II cavities that need to be restored in permanent teeth. The materials of the system can be polymerized in short time with a new curing light which is part of the system. The study will be carried out as a prospective study, with evaluation of the restorations after 7-10 days (baseline), at 6 months, at 12 months and at 24 months accordin...
The purpose of this study intend to evaluate the effectiveness of functional orthoses (including custom-made insoles and shoes) for preventing and controlling repetitive haemarthrosis in patients suffering of haemophilic ankle arthropathy, as well as the orthoses' impact on foot health-related quality of life.
Recent evidence suggests the efficacy of "custom pack" procedure on the operators reduction time and on the contamination risk due to the opening of many sterile packs. Nevertheless ,the studies available are sponsored by the industry and their results are very few. The aim of this study is to evaluate the correlation and reliability of spine surgery "custom pack" efficacy in adult patients obtained in the reduction of surgery time, relative risks, and materials wasted compared...
This study will investigate the effect of foot orthoses on two common conditions (ankle osteoarthritis and symptomatic adult onset flat feet) by using a custom biplane X-ray system the group has developed to very accurately and precisely quantify foot bone motion. The investigators will vary the design of the orthoses and subjects will be examined to find out which are most effective at improving function.
The purpose of this study is to determine if electrical stimulation (small levels of electricity) can safely and effectively reduce post-amputation pain. This study involves a device called the Smartpatch System. The Smartpatch System delivers mild electrical stimulation to nerves in the residual limb. The Smartpatch System includes a small wire (called a "lead") that is placed through the skin in the upper leg. It also includes a device worn on the body that delivers stimulati...
This study is comparing two silicone hydrogel contact lenses in a controlled environment for identification of characteristics associated to vision.
Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is an important therapy for patients with a number of neurological diseases. Specifically, NIV has been shown to be an effective treatment for people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease), which is a fatal, non-curable, progressive disease of the motor neurons. However, due to changes in facial structure associated with the disease, many ALS patients find that traditional NIV masks don't fit well. In this stu...
The purpose of this study is to determine if electrical stimulation (small levels of electricity) can safely and effectively reduce pain following total knee replacement. This study involves a device called the Smartpatch System. The Smartpatch System delivers mild electrical stimulation to nerves in the leg that received the knee replacement. The Smartpatch System includes a small wire (called a "lead") that is placed through the skin in the upper leg. It also includes a devic...
The purpose of this evaluation is to receive the greatest benefit of new custom made hearing product technology and shell modification for the end customer and to continual improve the custom made hearing products.
Importance of the topic: Lower extremity amputation is a costly complication of diabetes for both the NHS and the patient. Amputation may be avoided if the preceding foot ulceration can be prevented. One method of reducing the risk of ulceration in the neuropathic foot is through the provision of therapeutic insoles. The type of insole prescribed (prefabricated verses custom made) is currently based on anecdotal evidence. The idea held by many practitioners that the custom ...
This partially blinded placebo-controlled trial will determine the impact of curing Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) with an oral direct-acting antiviral (DAA), ledipasvir and sofosbuvir in a single pill, on central nervous system (CNS) outcomes in mono- or Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) co-infected individuals.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) devices are non-contact instruments that can measure the depth of scars, other causes of cloudiness of the cornea, and degree of corneal thinning in patients with keratoconus. Laser Custom Corneal Collagen Cross-linking (CXL) significantly decreases corneal aberrations and improves vision. This study will use OCT-guided setting for the lasers used in the corneal smoothing portion of the laser custom CXL procedure to assess the affect on visual...
The purpose of this study is to improve the clinical encounter through the design of the clinical environment. We will conduct a randomized controlled trial to measure the extent to which a newly designed clinical room, compared to a traditional room, affects the patient-physician interaction. We will judge this outcome by (a) videotaping encounters; and (b) conducting post-visit surveys with patients and an interview with physicians. We will use both qualitative and quantita...
The purpose of this research study is to assess the efficacy of custom-manufactured compression hosiery (also known as compression stockings) compared to similar off-the-rack (OTR) compression stockings.
To address whether custom made foot insoles could be used for primary prevention of lower limb overuse injuries, the investigators conducted a prospective, randomized controlled study comparing the use of insoles and standard shoes in healthy young adults exposed to increased physical activity.
Madonna's Rehabilitation Engineering Center of Excellence (REC) is continually developing custom devices for persons with disabilities. These devices are created to improve the independence of individuals living with disabilities at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals and in the community. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact custom assistive and adaptive devices have on patient independence, quality of life, and experience at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals.
Cervical cancer is associated with Human Papilloma Virus. About 57% of cervical cancer is the result of infection by Human Papilloma Virus strain 16 (HPV-16). HPV is a very common virus that can affect the cells of the cervix. E7 is a substance that is made by the HPV virus which causes cervical cancer. The purpose of the study is to test the safety, tolerability (how the drug makes you feel), immunology (effects on the immune system) and efficacy (disease curing effects) of...
The purpose of this study is to determine if electrical stimulation (small levels of electricity) in addition to the standard of care can safely and effectively reduce pain following total knee replacement more than the standard of care, alone. This study involves a device called the SPRINT Beta System. The SPRINT Beta System delivers mild electrical stimulation to nerves in the leg that received the knee replacement. The SPRINT Beta System includes a small wire (called a "lead...
This is a study investigating treatment of plantar fasciitis (heel pain). Physicians commonly prescribe specialized orthoses (shoe inserts) to treat heel pain. This study will evaluate the reduction in heel pain associated with three types of orthoses. It is hypothesized that custom made orthoses will significantly decrease pain and improve foot function in comparison to prefabricated insoles and sham insoles.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the product performance of a new adjustable compression system for the treatment of venous leg ulcers.
The study objective is to compare the clinical outcomes using wavefront guided PRK with iris registration and conventional laser PRK using FDA-approved laser technology on the same patient.
To compare a newly developed filling composite to a current filling composite system. Two restorations will be placed in each subject, one using system A and one using system B. The first system listed in the randomization pair will be placed on first tooth (#4-#13), and the second system on 2nd tooth (#4-#13). The same three researchers will be responsible for placement of all the restorations.
The Language Environment Analysis (LENA) system is a specific tool for the language environment analysis. Children aged from 18 months to 6 years old, with cochlear implants (CIs), wear an electronic device during a day and their language interactions are registered. Then the investigators can analyze with a specific software four different parameters (adult words, conversational turns, child vocalizations and media exposure) and compare them to the language ability of the chil...
