Cryo AF Global Registry a prospective, global, multi-center, observational Post-Market Registry
Dried fruits show promising potential for the management of blood glucose. Previous trials have reported beneficial effects of raisins on post-prandial glucose and insulin responses in healthy individuals when compared with white bread. However, to date there is limited data evaluating the potential beneficial effects of other dried fruits (i.e. sultanas, dates and apricots). It is also unclear whether dried fruits can be used to lower the postprandial glycemic responses to hig...
This is a global, prospective non-interventional, multi-centre, post-market study of the Vascutek Thoraflex™ Hybrid system in patients with acute thoracic aortic syndrome, subacute/chronic dissection of the aorta and aortic aneurysm.
The purpose of this cohort post market registry is to collect data and create a global database on use of embolization devices and embolization procedures outcome. The data collected in the cohort will serve a scientific purpose to acquire better insight in embolization procedures. This will be achieved by publications in Scientific Journals and by presentations at scientific meetings. Additionally it will support the industry on creating a better overview of the products used ...
Despite advances in the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes, its prevalence continues to rise worldwide. There is a need for new modalities to improve metabolic control in individuals with type 2 diabetes and those who are overweight or obese and at risk for type 2 diabetes. Contrary to the concerns raised about the adverse role of fructose in metabolic health, various lines of evidence suggest that fructose and its epimers may improve the metabolic handling of glucose ...
Peri-operative fluid therapy is a controversial area with few randomized trials to guide practice. Fluid management has a significant influence on outcome following surgery. Yet practically, fluid prescription practice during this period is sub-optimal, resulting in avoidable iatrogenic complications. Several studies have assessed the effect of a 'liberal' vs. a 'restrictive' perioperative fluid regimen on post-operative outcome. However, most of these studies have focused ...
The clinical characteristics, initial presentation, management, and outcomes of patients hospitalized with new-onset (first diagnosis) heart failure (HF) or decompensation of chronic HF are poorly understood worldwide. REPORT-HF is a global, prospective, and observational HF disease registry designed to characterize patient trajectories longitudinally during and following an index hospitalization for acute HF.
- The Martinique island (French West-Indies) is an area of high prevalence and incidence for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), respectively 64,2/ 100000 and 4,7/ 100000. In many cases, this disease concerns Afro Caribbean women, whose auto-antibodies are excessively high; also, organic damages are frequent. The disease can be fatal. - Studies have shown that some cytotoxic auto-antibodies may have a responsibility in the hydrolysing of DNA. This study...
This research will confirm that Pcv-aCO2 is suitable for the guidance of early fluid therapy and the evaluation of the prognosis of patients with abnormal hemodynamics after abdominal tumor surgery, and is expected to be a new monitoring index to improve the therapeutic effect of these patients.
The current study is a case control study involving comparisons of tissue interstitial fluid from breast cancer and adjacent non-cancerous tissue as well as that from benign breast lesion and its adjacent non-diseased tissue for a distinguishable breast cancer profile. The purpose of this research is to collect fresh breast nodule/cancer and surrounding non-cancerous tissue for proteomic studies of the interstitial fluid to identify a profile distinguishing breast cancer which ...
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the AQUABEAM System for the treatment of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) resulting from Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
The objective of this pilot trial is to assess the feasibility of forced fluid removal in patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with high-risk AKI and severe fluid overload. The intervention will use furosemide infusion and/or continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) to achieve and maintain a neutral cumulative fluid balance. The intervention will be compared to standard of care as reflected in the kidney disease improving global outcome (KDIGO) guidelines.
The first objective of this study was to compare the traditional fluid management (TFM) with PVI guided goal-directed fluid management (GDFM) in terms of controlled intraoperative fluid volume, surgical end-point fluid balance, blood lactate and serum creatinine levels. ASA I-II 70 patients included in this prospective study.
The study design is a prospective randomized uncontrolled clinical trial. It will include 150 cases. The aim of this study is to compare the efficacy of three different media used for embryo transfer regarding "chemical and clinical" pregnancy rate, implantation rate and ongoing pregnancy and miscarriage rates in IVF and ICSI cycles. The three different embryo transfer media are: 1. Hyaluronan-enriched medium "Embryo Glue®" 2. 30% Protein-supplemented Cultu...

This research is being done to learn how seminal fluid affects the lining of the colon, and whether this might make it easier for HIV to get into the body and cause infection.
In this research study we want to learn more about using non-invasive tools as a way to predict whether or not a child under general anesthesia will require and respond to fluid administration. It is important for an anesthesiologist to know if a child would respond to fluid administration so that they can provide the optimal intervention for low blood pressure and avoid unnecessary treatment.
- It has been known that the recent application of a goal-directed fluid therapy (GDFT) to the intraoperative fluid infusion in patients contributes to decreasing the prevalence of postoperative complications and shortening the length of study in the intensive care unit as well as hospital stay compared with conventional methods. - Laparoscopic surgery is in a trend that its application is being expanded recently, but there has been no report on the app...
This research is being done to see if a protocol (a set of orders that determine how much and how quickly a drug/fluid is given) for fluid and drugs used to increase blood pressure (vasopressors) will work better then general clinical practices to improve outcomes in patients with septic shock.
Heart failure (HF) is a major health problem worldwide but there is no global HF study that documents demographics, socioeconomic and clinical factors, diagnostic and management patterns, etiology, biomarkers, co-morbidities, treatments, quality of life, barriers to care and outcomes in all parts of the world. Such knowledge is essential in the prevention and treatment of this global disease. The Global Congestive Heart Failure Registry (G-CHF) is a global registry of approxima...
Given the structural essential, catalytic and co-catalytic played by zinc in many sections of protein metabolism, carbohydrate and lipid (zinc is involved in the function of more than 300 metalloenzymes and metalloproteins), one can imagine the impact of a deficiency or even a sub-chronic zinc deficiency on the health of the individual. Studies multiply that show that, long-term, marginal zinc deficiency is a risk factor for the development of cancer or neurodegenerative comple...
Perioperative fluid management is crucial for patients' outcome. Muller et al developed a "Mini-fluid challenge method " to predict fluid responsiveness and the efficacy. The investigators design the study to investigate the effectiveness of mini-fluid challenge test in prone position surgery.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether patients in the emergency department with migraine headache who are administered an intravenous fluid bolus will report greater improvement in pain scores than control patients.
Patients with renal impairment are usually advised to increase their fluid intake. There is currently, however, no evidence supporting this recommendation. In contrast, high fluid intake could be dangerous if urine excretion is reduced. In this study the researchers investigate whether increasing fluid intake from 2 to 4 litres per day has any influence on long-term renal outcome.
This project aims to measure the impact of a physician report card (also called an audit & feedback report) on colonoscopy performance. Endoscopists in Ontario will be randomly assigned to either receive the endoscopist report card or to no feedback. Using Ontario health administrative data, the quality of colonoscopy will be compared between those who received the report card and those who do not. The investigators will also measure the effect of receiving endoscopist report c...
