This study (FORECAST 2) builds upon the work of the successful pilot study (FORECAST) that found some evidence that breast cancer patients' fears of cancer recurrence (FCR) were sensitive to the communication exchange with therapeutic radiographers during weekly review appointments. The aim of FORECAST 2 is to co-design and pilot a communication training package for therapeutic radiographers to help them manage emotional talk with breast cancer patients who are undergoing treat...
The purpose of the study is to describe the regional and global FDG-kinetics in head and neck cancer during percutaneous radiation therapy.
The purpose of this study is to assess the performance of the HTLV Blot 2.4 from patients with the following conditions: infected with HTLV and neurological conditions with symptoms similar to HTLV infection.
Cryo AF Global Registry a prospective, global, multi-center, observational Post-Market Registry
The purpose of this study is to assess the validity and reproducibility of the MP Diagnostics HTLV Blot 2.4 in blood specimens testing repeat reactive (RR) on the first FDA licensed screening assay (Abbott Prism) and non-reactive (NR) on the second FDA licensed screening assay (Avioq ELISA).
Global Post-Market Study of the VenaSeal™ Closure System in the Treatment of Early and Advanced Stage Superficial Venous Disease.
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a type of head and neck cancer. The last three decades of research in head and neck radiation oncology have largely focused on improvements in survival, which have mostly come at the cost of long term toxicity for surviving patients. This is an observational study that is being done to learn about the long-term symptoms and side effects that survivors of nasopharyngeal cancer may have following radiation treatment. This study will include asse...
This is a research study to test the combination of two drugs, pembrolizumab and epacadostat with the goal of benefiting subjects with head and neck cancers where prior or ongoing regimens with a PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitor for the treatment of advanced head and neck cancer after platinum failure.
The goals of this clinical research study are to see how individuals with advanced head and neck cancer respond to treatment with the new drug thrombospondin (ABT-510) and to learn how effective it is in destroying cancer cells. The safety of ABT-510 and the effect ABT-510 has on cells in the body will also be studied.
Major Research Aim: To study novel molecular diagnostics and the pharmacokinetic variability among a spectrum of TB disease states, including severe forms of TB like disseminated TB, TB meningitis and drug resistant TB, among adults and children from multiple international sites.
RAD001 is approved by the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat advanced kidney cancer. This drug has also been used in other research studies to evaluate its effectiveness in other cancers. Information from these research studies suggests that RAD001 may help to decrease the growth and development of tumor cells by reducing the blood supply that tumors need to grow. In this research study, we are trying to determine the safety of RAD001 when given to people with lo...
This research study is testing a new treatment of cancer of the head and neck. Purpose This research study is being done to: 1. Test the safety of the experimental cancer vaccine made of dendritic cells. An experimental vaccine is one that is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). 2. To learn what effects (good and bad) the vaccine will have on you and your head and neck cancer. 3. To learn if the vaccine will stimula...
The primary objective of the study is to characterize the medical management of squamous cell carcinoma head and neck (SCCHN) patients diagnosed with recurrent/metastatic (R/M) disease (between 01July2013 and 30 June 2014) in the real-world setting.
Specific Aim 1: To examine the associations between emotional disclosure, social constraints/support and patient/spouse cognitive processing in Head and Neck Cancer (HNC) using self-report and observational methods. Specific Aim 2: To examine the associations between emotional disclosure and social constraints/support at the initiation of radiation treatment (XRT) for HNC (baseline) and patient/spouse adjustment 4 and 12 months after XRT using self-report and obs...
Through this study, we hope to learn more about the mechanisms, which may contribute to development and progression of head and neck cancer. The long-term goal of this study will be to develop new strategies and drugs for the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancer.
The goal of this research study is to compare the effectiveness of stereotactic body radioablative therapy (SBRT) to conventional radiation therapy in patients with head and neck cancer who are receiving repeat radiation.
The study regimen consists of cisplatin and radiation for all patients, the standard treatment for head and neck cancer. All patients will also receive pembrolizumab (the study drug), and will be randomized to two treatment schedules: either pembrolizumab with cisplatin-radiation, or pembrolizumab after completing cisplatin-radiation. The goal of this research study is to learn which therapy order (adding pembrolizumab during vs. after cisplatin and radiation) may be more effe...
This research study will test a new online computer program for patients, the Electronic Self-Report Assessment-Cancer (ESRA-C 2). The program allows patients to report symptoms and quality of life issues and learn information about how to deal with these experiences. The computer program is being tested to see if it can improve communications between patients and their care team and if it can improve patients' experiences during and after treatment.
The purpose of this study is to investigate a new agent Axitinib in the treatment of head and neck cancer. This is a new drug that is given as a pill twice a day to treat cancer. This is one of the new, "smart" drugs. It binds to a protein on the surface of the cancer cell called VEGFR, and this way it slows down the growth of cancer cells and kills them. Head and neck cancer cells are known to carry this protein on their surface. Research in animals and in patients with...
This is a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicentre, global Phase III trial comparing the efficacy of adjuvant oral lapatinib versus placebo in high-risk subjects with head and neck cancer following surgery. Lapatinib or placebo will be administered post-operatively in combination with chemoradiotherapy followed by maintenance with lapatinib or placebo for 1 year. The primary goal is to determine if lapatinib is effective at reducing the recurrence of the diseas...
The primary objective of this study is to describe, in detail, patterns of care for head and neck carcinoma patient
This is a global, prospective non-interventional, multi-centre, post-market study of the Vascutek Thoraflex™ Hybrid system in patients with acute thoracic aortic syndrome, subacute/chronic dissection of the aorta and aortic aneurysm.
The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness and side effects of a new combination and schedule of chemotherapy drugs in the treatment of head and neck cancer. Patients with advanced or recurrent head and neck cancer, which is untreatable by surgery or radiation therapy are eligible for this study. Standard treatment for advanced or recurrent head and neck cancer involves the use of chemotherapy.
This research study is for subjects with squamous cell cancer of the head and neck which is not solely treatable with surgery or radiation. This research study involves treatment with an experimental chemotherapy combination of oxaliplatin and Taxotere. Tha main purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of this combination of medications for this type of cancer. Approximately 54 subjects will take part in this study.
The purpose of this study is to explore the use of a treatment called interstitial brachytherapy for patients who have a high risk resectable (able to be treated with surgery) recurrent head and neck cancer. Brachytherapy is a form of radiation therapy that uses radioactive seeds and implants them into a specific place on your body. This study is using Cesium-131 permanent interstitial brachytherapy. Cesium-131 is FDA approve for brachytherapy use, however, there are cu...
