Study evaluates the efficacy and tolerability of low volume preparations compared with conventional 4L polyethylene glycol prior to colonoscopy
This non-interventional, observational study investigates the efficacy, safety and usability of methoxy polyethylene glycol epoetin beta in participants on peritoneal dialysis. Participants who were prescribed methoxy polyethylene glycol epoetin beta by their doctor and who meet the selection criteria were to be enrolled and documented in this study for a period of 9 months of treatment with methoxy polyethylene glycol epoetin beta with respect to efficacy, safety and usability...
All patients presenting to the emergency department of Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences with known cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy with grade II will be included in the study. The patient will be randomized into one of the two arms of lactulose or polyethylene glycol. The patient on the lactulose arm will be administered 20 to 30 g of lactulose orally or by nasogastric tube (3 or more doses within 24 hours ) or if oral intake was not possible or inadequate. The Dose...
Linaclotide based bowel cleansing regimen might be helpful to improve bowel cleansing quality before colonoscopy.
This study is to compare polyethylene glycol and sodium phosphate for colonic cleansing of colonoscopy.
This randomized clinical trial studies how well neomycin and metronidazole hydrochloride with or without polyethylene glycol work in reducing infection in patients undergoing elective colorectal surgery. Polyethylene glycol, may draw water from the body into the colon, flushing out the contents of the colon. Antibiotics, like neomycin and metronidazole hydrochloride, may stop bacteria from growing. It is not yet known whether it's better to give preoperative neomycin and metron...
This open-label single-arm study will evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerabi lity of methoxy polyethylene glycol epoetin beta on long-term maintenance of hae moglobin levels in patients with chronic renal anaemia. Patients will receive me thoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta intravenously once monthly at initial dos es of either 120 micrograms or 200 micrograms or 360 micrograms in the titration phase of 16 weeks with a potential dose adjustment in the evaluation phase of...
To compare the small bowel cleanliness for wireless capsule endoscopy using two different Polyethylene Glycol administration schedules (before the wireless capsule endoscopy ingestion versus in a split-dose fashion).
Children with functional constipation according to the Rome IV criteria will be randomly assigned to receive prunes at dose 3.5 g/kg/d (prune group) or Polyethylene Glycol 4000 (PEG group) at dose 0.5 g/kg/d for 4 weeks. Before treatment children with impaction will receive PEG 4000 at the dose 1.5 g/kg for 3-5 consecutive days. The primary outcome measure will be treatment success, defined as ≥3 BM per week with no fecal soiling during last week of the intervention.
About 30% of patients were reported to suffer inadequate bowel preparation. So, it is desirable to prescribe personalized regimen according to patient's personal characteristics.
The study aims to study the adequacy of bowel preparation (colon cleansing) for afternoon colonoscopies. The conventional regimen of giving bowel prep on the evening prior to the day of the colonoscopy will be compared with that given on the morning of an afternoon colonoscopy. Endoscopist scoring the bowel cleansing efficacy with an Ottawa Scale are blinded to the randomization process.
High quality bowel preparation is essential for successful colonoscopy. This study aimed to assess the impact of the dose of Polyethylene Glycol(PEG) on the quality of bowel preparation. This prospective, endoscopist-blinded, randomized, controlled study was conducted. 3L-group received 3 bags of PEG and were instructed to drink 1L at 19:00 in the evening before the day of colonoscopy at a rate of 250 mL every 15 minutes, and to drink the remaining 2L 4 to 6 h before colonoscop...
The aim of this study is to evaluate the ideal dose of PEG and timing of bowel preparation in patients referred for CE examination.
The aims of the present study is to compare oral sulfate solution (OSS) with low-dose polyethylene glycol plus ascorbic acid (2-L PEG/Asc) for bowel cleansing efficacy.
Colonoscopy is a useful tool used in modern medicine and it is increasingly being employed for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. (Polyethelene glycol)PEG is very often used for bowel preparation. There are some cases of hyponatremia reported due to the use of PEG. This study was designed to find frequency of sodium disorders after bowel cleansing by Polyethylene glycol solution for colonoscopies in Dr. Ruth K.M. Pfau, Civil Hospital Karachi.
This observational study will investigate hemoglobin levels and Mircera (methoxy polyethyleneglycol-epoetin beta) dose over time in patients with chronic kidney disease, and compare standards of care between centers. Data from each patient will be collected over 12 months of Mircera therapy.
Polyethylene glycol is the gold standard of bowel preparation for colonoscopy. The most important disadvantage is high volume of this preparation. Sulphate based solution (SBS), low volume PEG + ascorbic acid and solution of magnesium citric acid and sodium picosulfate could be suitable substitution of polyethylene glycol.
OBJECTIVES: I. Determine whether polyethylene-glycol-conjugated interleukin 2 (PEG-IL-2) can reduce the number of infections in patients with common variable immunodeficiency. II. Determine whether this therapy can improve lung functions in these patients with pulmonary impairment.
Randomized, placebo-controlled, double blind study. 203 subjects entered the study to compare the effect on occasional constipation of polyethylene glycol 3350 to placebo. Subjects took one of study treatments up to 7 days.
CT enterography has become an important tool in the evaluation of small bowel diseases, especially in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases. There are several shortcomings of commonly used isotonic mannitol as an oral contrast agent, such as incident adverse reactions and gases in the gut. However, polyethylene glycol can avoid these drawbacks with a good performance in some pilot experiments.
Comparison of quality of preparation of colonoscopy in patients taking same day 4L preparation vs. 4 L split dose preparation in patients scheduled for an afternoon colonoscopy procedure.
This 4 arm study will assess the optimal starting dose of Mircera in the treatment of anemia in patients with non-small cell lung cancer receiving first line myelosuppressive chemotherapy. Patients will be randomized to receive either Mircera 6.3 micrograms/kg, 9 micrograms/kg or 12 micrograms/kg s.c. every 3 weeks or darbepoetin alfa according to the approved local label (either 6.75 micrograms/kg s.c. every 3 weeks, or 2.25 micrograms/kg every week). The anticipated time on s...
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of prucalopride 2 mg, given orally once daily for 12 weeks, in combination with PEG or lactulose, in treatment of women with Chronic Constipation (CC) in whom laxatives fail to provide adequate relief, as measured by the percentage of subjects with a weekly average increase of 1 or more spontaneous complete bowel movements (SCBMs) (responders) during the 12-week treatment phase as compared to the baseline.
The research hypothesis is that topical application of a mixture of pre-polymers of polypropylene glycol and polyethylene glycol (an optical clearing agent) will reduce skin light scattering, increasing the amount of light reaching the target for diagnostic as well as therapeutic purposes.
The purpose of this study is to determine any significant differences in the efficacy and acceptability between CitraFleet and Klean Prep® (polyethylene glycol) for the preparation of gastrointestinal subjects undergoing a colon examination.
