To evaluate the safety and efficacy of R-COMP in elderly patients with advanced aggressive NHL. Myocet (non-pegylated liposomal doxorubicin) replaces conventional doxorubicin in the R-CHOP regimen.
The research question is if there is a dose-response relationship between blood biomarkers for articular cartilage and the magnitude of physiological load. To investigate this load induced biomarker change, the participants will complete a 30-minute walking test under three loading conditions: A: 80%, B: 100% C: 120% of their respective bodyweight (Fig. 1). The main biomarker we are interested in is called cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP). Serum COMP levels are incre...
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is the most prevalent subgroup within malignant lymphoma. Clinical benefit has been shown for the treatment with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristin and prednisolone (CHOP regimen); this could be further improved recently by the addition of rituximab (R-CHOP), a monoclonal antibody. Improved response and overall survival rates make it necessary to evaluate late toxicities of the therapy regimens. Cardiotoxicity is a known risk factor of spec...
The goal of this study is to use [C-11]NPA and amphetamine (oral, 0.5 mg/kg) to measure striatal dopamine transmission in prenatal cocaine exposed subjects (PCE) and comparison subjects (COMP)
All patients enrolled in the study will have to be treated with a chemo immunotherapy scheme R-CHOP with doxorubicin, with doxorubicin analogue or non pegylated liposomal anthracycline (R-COMP; Sec. 648 DM) administered every 21 days for 6 cycles. In unfavourable patients (stage II-IV) are allowed 2 additional cycles of rituximab at the end of the 6 cycles of R-CHOP.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of adding a team competition comprised of members of existing social networks to a technology-delivered program for enhancing physical activity among insufficiently active adults.
A randomized controlled trial comparing Urtica comp. gel (Swissmedic listed medication in the category of "Anthroposophic Medication without Indication") against standard skin care, examining its effect in prevention and treatment of radiation dermatitis in breast cancer patients under Radiation therapy.
Evaluate the safety and tolerability of MEDI-563 in adults with asthma and the effects of MEDI-563 on eosinophil counts in airway mucosal biopsies
The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of Disci/Rhus toxicodendron. comp.® in patients with chronic low back pain compared to waiting list group, or placebo.
Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is one of the most common complications of general anesthesia in pediatrics. Pediatric rates of nausea and vomiting are approximately double those of adult patients. The physiology of PONV is complex and not perfectly understood. According to our current model, the brain structures involved in the pathophysiology of vomiting are distributed throughout the medulla oblongata of the brainstem, not centralized in an anatomically defined ...
Objective. To examine the immediate and seven days effects of EAB on balance in subjects with CAI using CDP. Design. A 7 days follow-up, single-blind randomized controlled trial. Setting. University community. Participants. A sample of 30 subjects aged 18 to 28 with CAI and subjective perception of FAI was enrolled in this study. Interventions. Participants were randomly divided into two groups: an experimental group in which was applied EAB, and a control group in which was ap...
Evaluation of efficacy and safety of Mapracorat 0.1% ointment and 4 comparator ointments in male and female subjects 18 to 65 years with stable plaque-type psoriasis treated once daily 6 days a week for a maximum of 4 weeks. Primary objective was to compare the efficacy of all test compounds by measurement of psoriatic infiltrate thickness (PIT) with 20 MHz B mode ultrasound. Secondary objectives were to assess safety of all test compounds by measurement of the atrophog...
This study is designed to provide clear evidence for health and social policymakers about the influence of alternate service-delivery models and practices on enhancing and sustaining low-income family linkages to available services. A challenge faced by Canadian health and social service providers is to promote health for low-income families in a proactive and cost-effective manner. Families with low incomes experience an array of health and social barriers that compromise thei...
The objective of the study is to identify and validate predictive markers of infliximab responsiveness in RA patients by 2 approaches: i) measuring biochemical, immunological and bone markers in sera because of their involvement in pathogenic mechanisms; ii) identifying gene-expression signatures in PBMCs by the transcriptomic analysis. Patients with active RA (ACR criteria) were given i.v. 3 mg/kg infliximab associated with metotrexate at weeks 0, 2, 6, and every 8th week. In...
With the current therapeutic focus in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) shifting from symptom control to actual disease modification there is a growing demand for more objective and sensitive ways to evaluate structural damage in the joints of these RA patients. Conventional radiography of bone erosion and joint-space narrowing was the only imaging approach available for this. Now significant advantages are offered in terms of speed, precision and scope over conventional methods. These...
