This study will determine the level of glucose (sugar) in the CSF (fluid that surrounds the spinal cord) in 30 subjects having spinal anesthesia for cesarean section using a bedside glucose meter. Patients will undergo magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) scanning to noninvasively measure intracerebral and plasma metabolite levels at baseline and following 2 and 4 hours of hyperglycemia.
