Multicentric, observational, prospective, non-interventional study with occasional biological sample collection (serum bank, urine bank and tumor bank)
The purpose of this study is to develop a collection of iPS cells called a bank ("Bank") that are immune-matched to a large percentage of the US population by containing the most common HLA haplotypes in the US population.
To Assess the Utility of Impulse Oscillometry on a Differential Diagnosis among the Patients with ACOS,asthma and COPD over Age 40.
The goal of this project is to study the effect of noninvasive brain stimulation on decision-making and on brain activity in impulse control disorders.
This is a long-term follow-up banking protocol that collects medical information and tissue (blood, liver and lung) samples for future research; use of data and samples for research purposes is overseen by the Tissue Bank Advisory Committee; the purpose of the Bank is to further research on alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.
This is a study that will evaluate the utility of measuring liver and spleen stiffness before and after a meal by a non invasive ultrasound based technologies called Fibroscan (Transient elastography) and acoustic radio-frequency impulse (ARFI) in diagnosing or excluding cirrhosis in patients with chronic liver disease who will be getting a liver biopsy.
To develop a tissue bank library for patients with parathyroid disease who have undergone surgery and/or biopsy, and/or who may undergo surgical intervention at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center or outside centers, and/or all patients seen through the Parathyroid Center at participating sites, whether or not the patients undergo treatment for their disease. The tissue bank will contain both normal parathyroid tissue and diseased tissue, and will provide a resource for the ongoing st...
This study investigates the effect of two different techniques, stretching of the diaphragm and cervical level impulse technique C3-C4, in the possible spirometric changes, vital capacity (CV), maximum expiratory flow (PEF) and maximum expiratory volume (FEV). in relation to the secondary variables (age, physical activity, BMI, sex). the subjects of the study were informed and clarified doubts about it and its subsequent reading and signing of informed consent. The subjects wer...
This study is to assess the feasibility of using a positive activities intervention, Positive Piggy Bank, in newly diagnosed women with breast cancer who will soon undergo surgery. A randomized controlled pilot trial of a brief self-guided positive activities intervention, The Positive Piggy Bank (PPB), compared to Treatment as Usual. The PPB intervention involves noting at least one positive event each day, writing it down on a slip of paper and then depositing this piece of p...
This project will bank sera, DNA and vascular specimens from patients undergoing arteriovenous fistula creation and revision
The purpose of this research study is to test whether a Computerized Rotational Head Impulse Test-Vertical (crHIT-vertical) is able to reliably evaluate the vertical semicircular canals in patients with vestibular dysfunctions.
The purpose is to explore the frequency of impulse control disorders in Parkinson's patients treated with different Parkinson's medications.
Congenital heart defects are seen in 0,8% of life births. In France this means more than 5000 newborns per year. The south-east region of France is particularly affected as a result of a higher birth rate and consanguinity, when compared to other regions. The majority of congenital heart diseases remain unexplained. Genetic causes are indisputable but remain poorly understood. Genetic research needs the availability of a large-scale DNA collection, guided by a robust phenotypic...
Impulse control disorders are frequent and troublesome in patients with Parkinson's disease. However, the cerebral functional alterations related to impulse control disorders in Parkinson's disease are poorly understood and may involve the serotoninergic system besides alterations in the dopaminergic system. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the cerebral functional alterations in the serotoninergic system in patients with Parkinson's disease and impulse con...
The purpose of this study is to establish the reference values of impulse oscillometry (IOS) in healthy Chinese, and compare the indices of IOS in patients with lung disease, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, interstitial lung disease (ILD), and upper airway Obstruction (UAO).
The purpose of this research is to validate the e-MIP design and function by testing the ability of e-MIP to harvest energy and return a sufficient amount of energy to assist the user during gait. The investigators will also evaluate whether prosthetic users are able to wear and use the e-MIP device long-term.
A 5-point decline of forced vital capacity expressed as % predicted, over 6 months, is the current definition of disease progression (fast decline in lung function) in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. There is a need for techniques allowing to characterize disease progression earlier, so that treatment may be adapted as early as possible in the lack of a response. Hypothesis. Our hypothesis is that 3-month changes of lung function parameters measured by a novel technique, ...
This study will evaluate the effectiveness of Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse (ARFI)- Imaging compared to Transient Elastography (FibroScan) in differentiating liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C. Patients who are scheduled to have a liver biopsy will also undergo ARFI and FibroScan testing. The liver biopsy will be used as the reference method. The target sample size is 433.
The aim of the research is to evaluate the clinical value of fractional exhaled nitric oxide(FeNO) ,impulse oscillometry(IOS) and mid-expiratory flow (MEF) in patients with cough variant asthma.
The goal of this study is to determine if ultrasound tools can be used to detect liver stiffness. Acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) elastography and backscatter will be used to see if they can detect liver stiffness in different populations of patients with liver disease. The study is measuring liver stiffness in pediatric patients aged 2-5 years. Patients either have had a Fontan cardiac surgery or have liver disease. Ultrasound scanning takes images of the liver...
This study will evaluate the effectiveness of naltrexone in reducing ICD symptoms in Parkinson's disease patients taking a dopamine agonist.
Purpose: The purpose of the Stone Centre Serum and Urine Bank is to provide researchers with large numbers of serum and urine samples from kidney stone patients and controls for study of stone disease detection and treatment, and will take into account different genetic backgrounds, ages, and other patient factors to provide a broad sample size for the study of stone disease The Serum and Urine Bank will undoubtedly be an invaluable tool in the quest to understanding uri...
The purpose of this study is to obtain clinical specimens from pathologists and physicians involved in the diagnosis and care of patients with AIDS and non-AIDS associated malignancies. The National Cancer Institute has set up a Bank for tissues and biological fluids from HIVpositive and HIV-negative individuals in order to have specimens available for scientists studying malignancies associated with HIV disease.
The constitution of a biological samples bank, attached to epidemiological studies Cohort F-CCSS on iatrogenic effects of treatment of childhood cancer, will identify genetic variants that can modulate the iatrogenic risks of these treatments. The main objective is to provide a biological samples bank to consider, besides the carcinogenic risks, the risk of other iatrogenic diseases in these children, in particular cardiac, cerebrovascular, lung, bone and kidney. These conditio...
Impulse control disorders (ICD) are frequent in Parkinson's Disease. Neurobiological substrates of these symptoms are largely unknown. We aim to explore mesocorticolimbic pathway in Parkinson's disease patients with impulse control disorders (ICD) using an MRI technique called tensor diffusion imaging (DTI). More precisely, our main purpose is to demonstrate that fractional anisotropy (FA) (data obtained with DTI) in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) is different between patie...
