This study is designed to collect parallel intracardiac signal data during pre-defined periods of clinical interest from the PURE EP system and the existing signal recording and mapping systems. The collected signals will then undergo BLINDED, CONTROLLED evaluation by unbiased electrophysiologist reviewer(s) to determine whether the PURE EP signals provides additional or clearer diagnostic information.
The objectives of this clinical trial is to validate a S/W application to compare the calculations of Hemodynamic parameters like Continuous blood pressure (BP) and Continuous cardiac output (CO). This Hemodynamic parameters are computed from Pulse Oximeter (PhotoPlethysmograph or PPG) signal with results obtained by NIBP intermittent measurements and Echocardiography. The first phase of the study will be done on 10 patients of the Cardiology dept.- Cardiac ICU, that have routi...
The ability to encode the speech signal is determined by ascending and descending auditory processing. Difficulties in processing these speech signals are well described at the behavioral level in a specific language disorder. However, little is known about the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms. The assumption is that we should observe a degradation of the signal provided by the ear in the deaf subject while in case of specific language impairment it would be a phonemic ...
Within the course of this study, a signal processing algorithm has been developed at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), in collaboration with Sonova AG, in order to enhance the listening experience with remote microphone systems. In particular, the developed algorithm is supposed to improve the so-called audio-visual fusion, i.e. the fact to perceive the sound as coming from the physical location of the source. One of the main goals of the present study is to ev...
Little is known about the exact role of feedback in cortical processing. Hypotheses on its function range from attentional control to the transmission of Bayesian priors in the interpretation of sensory events, such as in the theory of Predictive Coding. Recent advances in identification of functional signatures of feedback and feedforward signal, as well as additional techniques based on causal relations in signal processing open a unique methodology for probing such processes...
His-Ventricle (HV) measurement is only obtained invasively using transvenous catheters. This kind of procedure is routinely performed but some risks of complication exist. HV interval prolongation is correlated with increased risk of occurrence of complete atrioventricular block which could lead to syncope or cardiac sudden death. A new non invasive, high density and high fidelity system (BioSemi, BioSemi B.V., Amsterdam, Netherlands) can theorically collect such electrophysiol...
The Bidirectional Cortical Neuroprosthetic System (BiCNS) consists of NeuroPort Microelectrode Array Systems and NeuroPort Electrodes (Sputtered Iridium Oxide Film), Patient Pedestals, the NeuroPort BioPotential Signal Processing System, and the CereStim C96 Programmable Stimulator. The goals of this early feasibility study consist of safety and efficacy evaluations of this device.
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of 4D image acquisition and post-processing with Vios Works for the evaluation of 3D images acquired on GE Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanners. Specifically, the investigators propose to evaluate the following: 1. Image acquisition time using traditional 2D and new 4D processing techniques; 2. Image quality for 2D and 4D processing techniques subjectively 3. Post-processing time for the two techniques. 4. Correlati...
The hypothesis of the study is that women perceive intestinal stimulation (rectal balloon distention) differently in different phases of the menstrual cycle, i.e there is an effect of hormones on the sensory pathway, and that this difference is reflected in the Central Nervous System processing of this signal. We also hypothesize that there is a difference in perception between control subjects and subjects with the irritable bowel syndrome.
To demonstrate the effect of non invasive vagus nerve (VNS) stimulation on heart rate variability and MSNA signal.
This is an electrogram mapping study that tests the ability of a new signal processing technique called electrogram morphology recurrence mapping to locate drivers in participants with atrial fibrillation. This study will also test the hypothesis that there are non-invasive markers that can predict driver location. Electrogram mapping will be performed in participants undergoing ablation for persistent atrial fibrillation. These participants will have a cardiac MRI and 12-lead ...
The purpose of this study is to investigate the processing of cannabis, and to investigate the occurrence of effects of cannabis on the cardiovascular system and the central nervous system; at higher levels of exposure.
This project aims to assess the ability of cardiac imaging (cardiac MRI and Doppler-echocardiography) post-processing tools to predict a combined end-point of intraventricular thrombosis, silent brain infarcts, clinical stroke and peripheral arterial embolism in patients with first acute myocardial infarction and ventricular dysfunction.
The NIA algorithm is similar to the traditional 12-lead ECG equipment. By analyzing patient data, NIA algorithm provides more detailed results compared to traditional 12-lead ECG. Patients with suspected coronary artery disease are conventionally diagnosed and treated by cardiac catheterization. However, cardiac catheterization is invasive procedure. Unless clinical diagnosis is evident before cardiac catheterization, a treadmill exercise test, a nuclear medicine myocardial per...
During liver transplantation (LT), hyperfibrinolysis is one of the most important modification of haemostasis. It is associated with t-PA and protein C increased activity. Hyperfibrinolysis is frequent, hardly predictable and associated with major bleeding. The diagnostic of hyperfibrinolysis with standard laboratory tests (euglobulin lysis test, t-PA, PAI-1 and D-dimers dosages) does not provide an answer in a delay compatible with the clinical practice in the operating room. ...
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a new monitor that measures cardiac output (amount of blood pumped by the heart). The system that is being tested in this study, called Endotracheal Cardiac Output Monitor (ECOM), uses electricity (impedance cardiography) to measure cardiac output and is not harmful to the patient. This study will test the accuracy and efficacy of the ECOM system in anesthetized and sedated patients who, in the normal course of clinical care in the OR o...
The goal of this IDE clinical study is to evaluate the quality of the cardiac signal recordings obtained by the SJM Confirm Implantable Cardiac Monitor (device).
Paris Saint Joseph hospital has just acquired a new echocardiography EPIC . This new system has image processing and left ventricular function quantification software which are different from the precedent model Philips IE33.Left ventricular function quantification and myocardial distortion are the main medical examination influencing doctor's decisions. EPIC can evaluate and quantify the cardiac ejection fraction via new software. Myocardial distortion quantification software...
This study is designed to prove new methods to enable the automated analysis of esophageal electrocardiography (eECG) signals in long-term measurements as well as the detection of atrial fibrillation. The investigators hypothesis is that eECG signals allow the reliable atrial and ventricular ECG signal distinction and the detection of atrial fibrillation. Therefore 14 patients with arrhythmias and 6 cardiac healthy subjects are asked to take part in this study. On each subject ...
To investigate if signal processing can detect subtle changes in speech production clinically relevant to oropharynx anatomy that may provide an objective measure in the assessment of the presumed difficulty of intubation.
The investigator goal is to conduct evaluation of the performance of new device for monitoring of cardiac function.
The current project will examine the impact of an emotional processing intervention on emotional processing abilities in a sample of 50 persons with moderate to severe TBI. Outcome will be assessed across 3 domains. We will document changes resulting from treatment: (1) in emotional processing tasks (2) in other areas of function including QOL, social functioning, mood and cognition that are also likely to be impacted (3) in brain structure and function. The examination of effi...
The objective of the RHAPSODY study is to evaluate the performance of new software features in subjects undergoing standard of care catheter-based endocardial mapping for atrial or ventricular tachyarrhythmias using a commercial Rhythmia Mapping System. Results from this study will be used to guide development and refinement of new software features that may be implemented in future commercial software releases.
Although a lot of evidence and guidelines recommend that patients have cardiac rehabilitation, in reality, the actual rate cardiac patients entering cardiac rehabilitation program is low, usually less than one third. One of the main hindrances of patients participating cardiac rehabilitation program is insufficient number of medical institutions that can provide rehabilitation services. Patients usually cannot perform exercise program under medical professionals monitoring with...
The investigators are doing this study to better understand the role of the central nervous system in processing painful stimuli in patients with fibromyalgia. Specifically, the investigators would like to know whether the central nervous system processing of painful stimuli changes with time and with talk therapy. In addition, the investigators are investigating how changes in your fibromyalgia symptoms may affect certain markers or proteins in your blood.
