This thesis project proposes to investigate the "state of the art" of the programming of the cochlear implant. In the center of audiophonologie Brussels, the classic 'manual programming' has been in use over 20 years and also the new way 'Artificial Intelligence programming'. The investigators want to compare, objectify, and control this new mode of programming. The study is planned over 4 years, in order to test, randomized, 15 subjects with manual programming and 15 other su...
The purpose of this clinical trial is to determine whether periodic therapy programming reports illustrating physician usage of shock reduction programming can increase utilization of recommended programming guidelines for defibrillators.
The purpose of this clinical investigation is to assess the programming behavior of the physicians in the patient cohort. Furthermore, the acceptance level of specific programming recommendations based on the patient's clinical needs and primary indications will be evaluated by comparing parameters determined by the feature IBP to daily life programming chosen by physicians.
Participants will undergo DBS programming guided by the DBS-Expert system and by a clinician per standard care.
Remote programming has significant advantages over conventional programming methods on some issues. This research will test the safety of SceneRay remote and wireless DBS programming system.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of novel DBS programming methods compared to traditional programming methods.
This is a prospective, on-label, multi-center, non-randomized, exploratory, single-arm study to characterize the effects of programming features of the Boston Scientific Precision Spectra™ Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) System using the CoverEdge™ surgical lead.
Programming Deep Brain Stimulation for the treatment of Essential Tremor can be a time intensive process. Using an atlas created using functional tremor responses in the operating room to determine the optimal settings would lead to a faster response for the patient and improved quality of life.
The molecular mechanisms underlying developmental programming of childhood obesity remain poorly understood. Here, the investigators address major questions about early childhood obesity programming by studying CD3+ T-cells from intrauterine growth restricted (IUGR) newborns who have an increased risk for obesity and other metabolic disorders in adult life.
This study utilizes implementation science principles to culturally adapt a pre-existing web-based application (WebApp) for use with college students. The ADAPT-ITT process will be utilized to adapt the WebApp to a diverse (race, ethnicity, gender/sexual identity) college population with a focus on life skills and holistic self-care as reinforcement to currently available primary prevention programming available to incoming students. The study hypothesis is that the adapted Web...
Topical steroids are an important component of treatment for many dermatological conditions, however 'Corticosteroid phobia' is a significant factor contributing to non adherence to prescribed therapy. The primary aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of targeted education, and involvement in a moderated social forum in reducing steroid phobia as assessed by the TOPICOP© score. Secondary objectives include determining if a decrease in TOPICOP© score corre...
This project will complete a long-term follow up for children that have received cochlear implants (CI) early in life and had their CI's programmed based on objective measurements. At Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, generally, all younger children (0-3 years), the last ten years, had their CI's programmed based on objective measurements. The programming of the CI carried out during the first year after the surgical insertion is done on the foundation of the obje...
This is a prospective, multi-center, non-randomized, exploratory, single-arm study characterize the effects of programming spinal cord stimulation (SCS) in patients undergoing a Boston Scientific (BSC) spinal cord stimulation (SCS) temporary trial
MAMI aims to characterize maternal microbes to be transferred to neonates and determine their function in infant health programming.
This study will assess the impact of higher rate cutoffs and longer delays than standard programming on inappropriate therapy in primary prevention ICD and CRT-D patients.
The study will explore the viability of an alternative programming strategy in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD).
The purpose of this study is to evaluate programming options in spinal cord stimulation for the management of chronic, intractable pain of the trunk and limbs.
The aim is to provide evidence of the long-term benefits of personalised pacemaker programming on heart function and battery longevity. This will be achieved by showing in a single centre, phase II, double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial that reducing the amount of pacemaker beats to a minimum reverses these changes and extends battery life.
The aim of the study is to describe the safety and immunogenicity of the 2016-2017 formulations of Fluzone Quadrivalent vaccine in children 3 to < 9 years of age and in adults 18 to < 65 years or age, and of the 2016-2017 formulation of Fluzone High-Dose vaccine in adults ≥ 65 years of age. Primary Observational Objectives - To describe the safety of the 2016-2017 formulation of Fluzone Quadrivalent vaccine in children 3 to < 9 years of age and adults 18 to < ...
The purpose of this investigational study is to study the effects of Stimgenics Spinal Cord Stimulation (SGX-SCS) in subjects with chronic, intractable pain of the trunk with lower limb pain, including unilateral or bilateral pain associated with the following conditions: failed back surgery syndrome, intractable low back pain and leg pain.
The ESSURE device is a method of permanent contraception, marketed in France since 2005. Multiple side effects have been reported by patients since 2015 and the marketing was stopped in 2017. For several months it was observed an increase in requests for withdrawal of these devices. The principal objective of this study is to evaluate clinical improvement and quality of life after ESSURE removal. This is a multicenter retrospective descriptive study involving the gynecology de...
This is a randomized, double-blinded, Phase II study in healthy males and non-pregnant females 19 years and older that is designed to assess the safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity of a pre-pandemic 2017 monovalent inactivated influenza A/H7N9 virus vaccine (2017 H7N9 IIV) administered at different dosages given with or without AS03 adjuvant. Eligible subjects will be randomized into 5 study groups, stratified by age. The study will enroll up to 420 individuals 19-64 yea...
Patients referred for magnetically controlled capsule endoscopy (MCE) in the participating center from June 2017 to March 2018 (anticipated) were prospectively enrolled. Magnetic steering of MCE was performed after standard gastric examination. Capsule endoscopy completion rate (CECR), gastric transit time (GTT), pyloric transit time (PTT) and gastric transit rate (GTT ≤ 30 min) were compared with the historical control group enrolled from January 2017 to May 2017.
Immunotherapy is a promising therapeutic approach for patients with cancers. Patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) experiencing early relapse less than 18 months from diagnosis had very poor prognosis with 5-year survival rate of 21% (1). Recent clinical trials demonstrated that infusions of autologous T cell modified with chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) induced durable complete remissions in patients with relapse or refractory B-cell ALL (2-4). The editors of Scie...
This will be a time series prospective cohort and comparison group design to evaluate the effect on home literacy environments of the Reach Home and Read intervention as compared to standard programming provided by home visiting staff. The intervention will consist of staff training for East Durham Children's Initiative (EDCI) early childhood staff and the provision of an age appropriate book at their home visits. The control group will be children receiving the current EDCI h...
