The general objective of this study is to assess the effects of this new financing scheme, to...
The individual adapted sport modalities concentrate most of the technological development for equipment and auxiliary devices, the collective modalities need implements that aid in the development of training and the game.
This is a cross-sectional observational study, aiming to validate the accuracy of tidal breathing measurements in infants made by VoluSense Pediatrics, a lung function method based on electromagnetic inductance plethysmography, compared to an ultrasonic flowmeter. VoluSense Pediatrics consists of a flexible vest placed around the torso of the baby, and changes in tidal volume and flow is measured. The study will enable a better understanding of the usefulness of this equipment....
Laryngeal Mask Airway Flexible (LMA Flexible) is useful in various surgery because of its unique design. The flexometallic tube allows it could be used in head and neck related surgery but also make insertion more difficult. The ideal position of LMA Flexible is important because in most case, the surgery requiring LMA Flexible allows movements of the stem or patient's head during operation without dislodgement of LMA Flexible. Several studies have examined different techniques...
The study is in two parts Part one of the study describes the use of the new single-use flexible video-scope for intubation of patients with predicted normal airways. Part two compares the performance of the single-use flexible video-scope with that of a conventional flexible video-scope for awake intubation of patients with predicted difficult airways. The hypothesis is that the new single-use flexible video-scope for intubation performs as well as the tradition...
Use of a flexible subcutaneous catheter improves comfort in patients with DKA compared to the usual treatment with a metal needle.
The study will help define the best tolerated approach to cystoscopy in women by randomly comparing flexible to rigid cystoscopy. Previous randomized studies evaluated rigid cystoscopy under general anesthesia versus flexible cystoscopy under local anesthesia. As a result of these studies, flexible cystoscopy is performed in the clinic setting generally in males. However, many women have rigid cystoscopy performed in the clinic while the men have flexible cystoscopy. No stud...
This study evaluates the safety and efficacy of the novel tip-flexible semi-rigid ureterorenoscope for the treatment of renal calculi using a prospective, randomized multicentre trial design. Half of participants will receive retrograde intrarenal surgery using the tip-flexible semi-rigid ureterorenoscope, while the other half participants will receive retrograde intrarenal surgery using the classic flexible ureteroscope.
Rehabilitation after Total Knee Arthroplasty surgery involves physical therapy services to address limitations in range of motion, strength, and participation in normal daily activities. This investigation will compare the outcomes from standard physical therapy intervention in comparison to reduced frequency physical therapy sessions supplemented with in-home exercise equipment.
This is an observational study in which data on consecutive patients who undergo ureterorenoscopy with the use of a flexible ureterorenoscope are collected. In total 4 new ureteroscopes are used (2 from Olympus and 2 from Storz) to study the durability of the ureteroscopes and the possible microbiological load.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a different type of medical equipment called "High-Resolution Microendoscope" for the diagnosis of cervical pre-cancerous lesions and cervical cancer. We want to compare the patients' clinical findings using the current equipment that we have in clinic with the clinical findings using the new equipment that we are testing on this research project. If the new equipment is proven to give comparable findings with the current equipment that ...
This monocentric, non-interventional observational registry study was designed in order to obtain data of patients with the indication for a flexible bronchoscopy to control and optimize a guideline conform therapy of these patients.
This study centers on the treatment of low pole renal stones by flexible ureteroscope and intends to find the key anatomical parameters using a prospective, randomized multi-center trial design and to make a more appropriate standard for flexible ureteroscopy of low pole renal stones.
In this pilot study, we wish to evaluate the performance of a robotic flexible ureteorscopy (ILY) in the treatment of nephrolithiasis in the superior excretory system
Insufficient inhibitory control is one pathway through which early adversity is related to a range of problems including excessive alcohol use, tobacco use, and unhealthy eating. The proposed research leverages a neurally informed model of inhibitory control and how it can be improved to test the efficacy of a person-centered inhibitory control intervention in a sample of mid-life individuals with early adversity. The knowledge obtained by this study could be scaled into a flex...
Congenital cataracts (CC) are the leading cause of childhood visual disabilities and treatable childhood blindness worldwide1. CC patients have a wide range of presentations of lens opacities and are generally categorized into several groups based on the etiologies, anatomical positions, or shapes of lens opacities. Cataractous eyes of CC patients are also frequently complicated with other anterior segment abnormalities due to their close anatomical relationships and similar de...
This is a prospective study to assess the yield of pleural biopsy obtained with the routine flexible thoracoscopic biopsy forceps versus that obtained with a flexible cryoprobe during semirigid thoracoscopy
Flexible bronchoscopy is a commonly performed procedure and is usually performed transnasally. The optimal topical anesthesia regimen for bronchoscopy is investigational. Topical Vasoconstrictors like xylometazoline produce decongestion of nasal mucosa and may make insertion of bronchoscope easier. The addition of topical vasoconstrictor to lignocaine may have advantage in terms of patient comfort and for reducing local complications. Although evaluated in the settings of nasal...
The aim of this study is to assess the benefits from the AAISafeR/SafeR algorithm of Symphony 2550 or REPLY DR in a wide range of pacemaker patients. The expected benefits will be a result of the reduction of the percentage of ventricular pacing. It contributes to the longevity of the cardiac pacemaker and has an effect on the incidence of sustained (or persistent) Atrial Fibrillation and Heart Failure. These clinical benefits are a result of spontaneous ventricular act...
To prospectively evaluate the long term metabolic and psychological effects of flexible intensive insulin therapy (FIT) courses in an unselected population of type 1 diabetic patients at the University of Basel Hospital. We hypothesize that both metabolic control and psychological parameters will improve.
Pandemics and re-emerging diseases put pressure on the health care system to prepare for patient care and sample logistics requiring enhanced personnel protective equipment (PPE) for health care workers. We generated quantifiable data on ergonomics of PPE applicable in a health care setting by defining error rates and physically limiting factors due to PPE-induced restrictions. Nineteen study volunteers tested randomly allocated head- or full body-ventilated PPE suits equipped ...
Ten patients who had had maxillectomy will be assigned to two groups employing two types of 'temporary obturators. The obturators in the first group will be made from heat cure acrylic resin, whereas those in the second group from flexible resin. A comparison will be made between the two materials in terms of oral-nasal seal using the drinking water test as well as the mirror test.
The investigators hypothesis is that upper airway collapsibility (Pcrit) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) can be measured using equipment found in the clinical sleep laboratory and these Pcrit measurements obtained using clinical sleep laboratory equipment is comparable to those obtained using research equipment. OSA is a common disease characterized by repetitive collapse of the upper airway during sleep, leading to hypoxemia and arousals, and which has important...
Mental illness rarely occurs as a single, easily categorized condition. Instead, multiple disorders often co-occur. This complicates the treatment plan for many Veterans, especially those suffering the most severe dysfunction. This also means that clinical research aimed at one specific disorder may not be optimized to treat the realworld presentation of neuropsychiatric illness. The investigators propose in this study to develop a novel, non-invasive brain stimulation treatmen...
