Using Ontario health administrative data, the quality of colonoscopy will be compared between those who received the report card and those who do not. The investigators will also measure the effect of receiving endoscopist report c...

The goal of this clinical protocol is to perform a randomized crossover study to determine the energy cost of holding the MedGem® device above a person's normal resting metabolic rate (RMR) compared to not holding the MedGem® device.
Can we improve diabetes outcomes through 1) report card mailings to patients 2) point of care distribution of report cards to patients and 3) provider performance feedback with patient level data?
This study explored optimal tailoring strategies for population tobacco cessation in 4 treatment groups and a control group over 24 months. Transtheoretical model (TTM) tailored feedback on all 14 variables has been found to be a robust population cessation strategy across studies. This proposal sought to find a subset of these variables that is optimal for tailoring, both minimizing response burden while maximizing effectiveness. Addiction variables have been demonstrated to p...
Kangaroo holding is a skin-to-skin method of holding a baby. Many research studies have investigated the maternal and infant benefits associated with kangaroo holding. The purpose of this study is to determine if kangaroo holding a baby changes the amount and composition of breast milk pumped before and after the kangaroo holding session. Hypotheses: 1. There is a significant difference in volume of maternal breast milk pumped after kangaroo holding premature i...
The Mayo Clinic Conduit Report Card Questionnaires have been created in order to have a consistent evaluation tools for patients undergoing esophagectomy or esophageal reconstruction in order to standardize and validate outcome measures. Data will be used to establish the validation of the Mayo Clinic Conduit Report Card Questionnaires. Data will also lead to the establishment of "normal" or expected scores for patients undergoing each type of esophagectomy procedure
The purpose of this feasibility study is to test the potential for successful implementation of an intervention designed to study the effect of six hours out of bed time on the overall level of deconditioning in pediatric stem cell transplant (SCT) patients. Previous research has demonstrated that deconditioning occurs rapidly over the course of the hospitalization post-transplant and can negatively impact quality of life. By encouraging patients to be out of bed for six hours ...
This research study will test a new online computer program for patients, the Electronic Self-Report Assessment-Cancer (ESRA-C 2). The program allows patients to report symptoms and quality of life issues and learn information about how to deal with these experiences. The computer program is being tested to see if it can improve communications between patients and their care team and if it can improve patients' experiences during and after treatment.
The current study proposes an open clinical trial to investigate the effectiveness of a social functioning intervention on bariatric surgery outcomes and depression. The treatment will be administered in a group format over 10 weekly/biweekly sessions and will take place at the University of Washington Weight Loss Management Clinic (WLMC) at the Roosevelt Clinic location. Effects of the intervention will be measured with self-report questionnaires and by self-report of behavior...
This is a non-treatment study. It will not involve the use of any investigational drug or device. Potential participants will be enrolled through direct contact with collaborating clinical sites when the patient's annual 3D mammogram report yields a BIRADS rating of 4-5. The clinical Investigators or a member of their staff will conduct consent discussion once a suspicious mammogram report is identified or if a patient is referred for imaging of a suspicious area in the breast....
Asymptomatic bacteriuria (AB) is a condition in which bacteria are detected in urine culture without urinary symptoms. The inappropriate use of antibiotic treatment for AB selects bacterial flora to express resistance mutations. Reducing inappropriate antibiotic use for AB is difficult, since the microbiology laboratory cannot distinguish patients with AB. The investigators study will use a restricted laboratory report requesting the physician to call the laboratory for culture...

The primary objective is to determine if kangaroo holding in the first week after birth influences the stress levels of mothers who have delivered their infants prematurely and who require admission to the Special Care Nursery (SCN). Hypothesis: There will be a decrease in maternal stress levels as perceived by mothers and as reflected in their blood pressures and heart rates after kangaroo holding their premature infants in the SCN.
The Hunger Project/Epicenter strategy is a community based development strategy that will positively affect health, education, empowerment, and consumption.
Compared with control participants at post-intervention follow-ups, unhealthy drinkers who receive the screening and brief intervention will (1) report reduced alcohol consumption among all patients, and (2) report reduced alcohol-related problems and health care utilization.
The objective is to describe and quantify levels of platelet reactivity in three different cohorts of patients taking thienopyridine: patients who report nuisance bleeding, patients who report alarming bleeding, and patients who report no nuisance or alarming bleeding. The investigators hypothesize that patients with nuisance or alarming bleeding events on maintenance thienopyridine therapy will have lower levels of platelet reactivity than patients without nuisance or alarmin...
