Liner Ablation Using Contact-force in Atrial Fibrillation

Linear ablation is frequently used in the procedure for persistent atrial fibrillation. However, it has a limitation because of technical difficulty. Incomplete block is common and an important cause of atrial tachycardia. The association between contact force values and successful linear block has not been revealed yet. We aim to the effectiveness and safety of linear ablation by using CF sensing catheter.

Evaluation of Adjunctive Injectable PRF Therapy Used in Conjunction With Scaling and Root Planning

Clinical evaluation of local administration of injectable PRF (injectable platelet-rich fibrin) in periodontal pockets as adjunctive therapy to scaling and root planing. 15 periodontal patients will receive a through traditional mechanical treatment (scaling and root planing). Each patient will receive subgingival i-PRF injected in half mouth and the opposite side will be injected with saline, immediately after the deep scaling session.

This study will determine the effect of physical activity promotion based on Thai Physical Activity Guideline (TPAG) and break in workplace sitting on physical activity level, physical fitness, body compositions, cognitive functions and cardiometabolic biomarkers in office workers at Software Park Thailand under the Office of Science and Technology (NSTDA). There are two intervention including physical activity (PA) coaching based on TPAG and break in workplace sitting. The inv...

Study of Scaling and Root Planing (SRP) With PerioWave vs. SRP Alone in Chronic Periodontitis

This study is to determine whether scaling and root planning (SRP) followed by photodynamic disinfection results in improved outcomes that persist over time in adults with chronic periodontitis when compared with subjects with SRP alone.

Neural Development of Deductive Reasoning

Children's understanding of linear-order (e.g., Dan is taller than Lisa, Lisa is taller than Jess) and set-inclusion (i.e., All tulips are flowers, All flowers are plants) relationships is critical for the acquisition of deductive reasoning, that is, the ability to reach logically valid conclusions from given premises. Behavioral and neuroimaging studies in adults suggest processing differences between these relations: While arguments that involve linear-orders may be preferent...

Investigation of the Safety and Efficacy of Pocket-X Gel and Pocket-X Chip

This study is a prospective randomized open-label controlled study in which the Pocket-X Gel, a periodontal in-situ gelling product, or Pocket-X Chip, a periodontal film, will be applied to periodontal pockets in one mouth segment of patients in the treatment groups following scaling and root planing, while a control group will only undergo scaling and root planing. The aim of the study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of Pocket-X Gel and Pocket-X Chip in improving the...

Line Versus Spot Ablation in Persistent Atrial Fibrillation

In this randomized study dealing with the ablative treatment of persistent atrial fibrillation, two ablation strategies are compared: a more anatomically guided linear ablation scheme versus an electrophysiological guided focal ablation strategy aiming at the electrical isolating of the pulmonary veins and ablating areas of fragmented intracardiac electrograms thought to maintain atrial fibrillation.

Diode Laser Therapy As An Adjunct To Scaling And Root Planing

Laser therapy has been proposed as a novel treatment option in controlling subgingival microorganisms. This randomized controlled clinical trial evaluates the effect of 980nm diode laser as an adjunct to scaling and root planing (SRP) in the management of chronic periodontitis (CP).

Coping Strategies Used by Food Insecure Households

Children without consistent access to sufficient and nutritious food show sustained disadvantages. To improve food security, households utilize three types of coping strategies- participating in governmental feeding and financial assistance programs; obtaining food from nongovernment providers; and using individually developed strategies. To understand the interdependencies among strategies and decision-making processes used to select them, the investigators conducted a two-pha...

Injury Incidence in Professional Soccer

The winter break within the German Professional Football Leagues will be shortened as for the season 2009/2010 from 6.5 to 3.5 weeks. That might have repercussions on injury incidence in either way, positive or negative. On the one hand, recovery time during the winter will be shorter, which might lead to an increased risk of injury. On the other hand, it will allow a better spread of games in the second round, thus reducing the amount of the so-called "English weeks", which i...

Diaphragmatic Motion Using Linear Ultrasound

This study evaluates the movement of the diaphragm (which is the main muscle used for breathing). It will compare two ultrasound modalities: linear ultrasound versus curvilinear ultrasound, at measuring diaphragm motion. Our proposed measurement method with linear ultrasound is novel, and will be compared against the established method with curvilinear ultrasound. We hypothesize that our novel method will have several potential advantages, including: it may be easier to learn, ...

Voriconazole Trough Plasma Levels : Genetic Polymorphism, Efficacy, Safety in Patients With Hematologic Malignancy

Multiple factors are associated with a large variability in voriconazole exposure following standard dose administration, such as non-linear saturable pharmacokinetics, drug-drug interactions, liver disease, patient age, and genetic polymorphism of the metabolic enzymes. Voriconazole is extensively metabolized by the human hepatic enzymes, primarily mediated by CYP2C19. The polymorphisms account for a relatively large portion of inter-individual variance observed in voriconazo...
