This is a 10 week, open-label, prospective study, involving 10 volunteer participants with cannabis use disorder to test the feasibility and safety of using lorcaserin in addition to the feasibility, likability, and utility of a mobile sensor device in cannabis users. The study will be entirely outpatient. Upon study entry, participants will begin clinic visits at the Substance Treatment and Research Service (STARS) clinic. All consented participants will receive a Fitbit Charg...
This project is a placebo-controlled, double-blind randomized trial evaluating the feasibility, tolerability, acceptability and adherence for lorcaserin among actively using, men who have sex with men (MSM) with cocaine use disorders. The study will enroll 45 individuals who will randomly be assigned to either the treatment (lorcaserin) arm or the placebo arm, to be taken twice a day for 12 weeks.
The purpose of this study is to assess the weight loss effect of lorcaserin during and at the end of 1 year of treatment in overweight and obese patients.
This study uses an ingestion sensor and a wearable sensor (worn as a patch on the skin), which are new Proteus Digital Health (PDH) technologies approved by the FDA, to collect information about patients taking their ARV medications. The wearable sensor records information, which is uploaded wirelessly to a mobile device and then to a secure computer. Together the sensors and the mobile device transmitting the information to the study computer are called a digital health feedba...
This two-phase study aims to explore ways to predict who will respond well to the weight loss drug lorcaserin and to understand the mechanisms that develop which limit drug efficacy. Subjects will be recruited for a 5-week crossover study (phase 1) with lorcaserin and placebo followed by treatment with lorcaserin for 24 weeks (phase 2).
This is a randomized, cross-over, single-blind, placebo-controlled, single-center, multiple-panel evaluation of the potential for oral lorcaserin to modify cocaine self-administration in a laboratory setting. To prevent unauthorized drug use, study medications will be administered as participants are confined during overnight stays at the Medical Center. Non-treatment-seeking, regular cocaine users will receive oral treatment with single doses of placebo, lorcaserin 10 mg (Pane...
In this study, the investigators are interested in testing how lorcaserin influences the effects of cannabis in a human laboratory model of cannabis use.
The purpose of this study is to assess the weight loss effect of lorcaserin at the end of the first year of treatment (Week 52) and to assess the ability of lorcaserin to maintain weight loss at the end of the second year of treatment (Week 104)
The goal of this study is to determine whether a sensor-enabled, clinically integrated, mobile health asthma program can improve asthma outcomes among 4-11 year old children with moderate-to-severe asthma.
This study uses an ingestion sensor and a wearable sensor (worn as a patch on the skin), which are new Proteus Digital Health (PDH) technologies approved by the FDA, to collect information about patients taking their Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) medication for HIV prevention. The wearable sensor records information, which is uploaded wirelessly to a mobile device and then to a secure computer. Together the sensors and the mobile device transmitting the information to the stu...
The purpose of this study is to evaluate and establish whether lorcaserin dose adjustment is required in patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment.
The purpose of the study is to determine the feasibility and acceptability of at-home use of the Cohero mHealth (mobile health) technology, which consists of a Bluetooth Low Energy connected medication-use sensor (HerotrackerTM) that monitors at-home medication use, mobile application (BreatheSmart) that sends real-time reminders, and mobile spirometer (mSpirometer) that measures lung function, through a virtual observational study format in order to improve patient engagement ...
This is a retrospective, descriptive study that involves de-identified data consisting of weight changes, pertinent vital signs and laboratory values influenced by body weight, and healthcare utilization of patients prescribed lorcaserin at The Center for Weight Management at the Scripps Clinic in San Diego, CA.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the abuse potential of lorcaserin in healthy recreational polydrug users.
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the bioequivalence between lorcaserin XR tablets manufactured in Kawashima and lorcaserin XR tablets manufactured in Zofingen.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of lorcaserin on energy metabolism and food intake in obese and overweight patients.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the PK properties of lorcaserin in subjects with end stage renal disease (ESRD) who require dialysis and will be studied under dialysis and non-dialysis conditions.
1. The accuracy of the sensors (Dexcom G5 vs FreeStyle Libre Flash glucose monitoring) will be evaluated by simultaneous wearing of the 2 sensors during 2 weeks. During these 2 weeks the patients will do at least four capillary blood glucose measurements to compare with the sensor results. 2. Patient satisfaction will be evaluated using a questionnaire that will be completed after the Dexcom G5 sensor has been worn for 1 month. 3. The data record...
This study proposes to recruit patients with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) seeking treatment into our program of outpatient detoxification and naltrexone induction followed by a relapse-prevention treatment with Extended release-naltrexone (XR-NTX) . Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to adjunctive treatment with lorcaserin (N = 40), or placebo (N = 20) with weekly therapy.
The overall goal of this project is to develop initial human data on effects of novel compounds on safety (interactions with oxycodone) and efficacy (subjective response to oxycodone) in non-treatment seeking opioid use disorder subjects. The compound to be studied will be the 5-HT2CR agonist lorcaserin. There are no known or reported adverse interactions between lorcaserin and oxycodone or other opioids.
This study is an open trial of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) groups combined with a mobile app for the treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). The goal of this study is to evaluate if ACT groups and a mobile app are efficacious and acceptable in the treatment of GAD. Study hypotheses are: 1. Group ACT will lead to improvement in worry, anxiety, comorbid depression, functioning, and well-being. 2. Group ACT will also lead to improvement...
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to test new pharmacologic strategies for weight loss in patients with schizophrenia, a population for which no current weight-loss treatments have gained widespread use.
