This is a prospective Infection Control study comparing rates of antibiotic usage and infections in the General Intensive Care Unit (GICU) in beds with copper impregnated linens versus regular linens.
The purpose of this study is to investigate two different patient's head and neck positions(neutral position and sniffing position) for the effectiveness of orotracheal intubation with using the "Clarus Video System (Trachway®)" intubating stylet.
To compare two intrauterine systems in order to avoid complications originating from short pregnancy interval and undesired pregnancies in the early postpartum period.
The purpose of this clinical trial is to evaluate various commercially available ultrasound systems and to identify imaging parameters to be used with these systems (along with the contrast agent PB127) as well as to further evaluate the safety of PB127.
The objective of the present study was to compare the ability of acute physiology and chronic health evaluation (APACHE) scoring systems with the combination of an anthropometric variable score "adductor pollicis muscle (APM) thickness" to the APACHE systems in predicting mortality in the ICU. Three hundred and four patients enrolled in this prospective observational study. The APM thickness in dominant hand and APACHE II and III scores were measured for each patient upon admis...
The centre for Medically-Assisted Procreation (MAP) of Dijon CHU has two high-technology embryo culture systems, with incubation characteristics that are potentially superior to those provided by classical culture systems. Indeed, these two systems, available in only two MAP centres in France, make it possible to maintain a stable temperature and gaseous environment during the in-vitro development of the embryos. It is necessary to observe the development of the embryos to det...
A methodical evaluation of new CE-labelled Phonak Hearing Systems is intended to be conducted on hard of hearing participants to grant quality control prior to product launch. The aim of the investigation series is to ensure zero-defect overall performance of the new hearing systems as well as maximum benefit for the participant with the devices in comparison to previously outstanding Phonak Hearing Systems.
Evaluation of Inducible Monomorphic Ventricular Tachycardia (MMVT) in Patients With St. Jude Medical Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Systems or Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillation (CRT-D) Systems.
The intent of this observational study is to understand the role of non-invasive programmed stimulation (NIPS) to induce substrate based MMVT in patients receiving new St. Jude Medical ICD or CRT-D systems.
This pilot trial studies how well systems support mapping works in guiding self-management in stage I-III colorectal cancer survivors. Systems support mapping helps participants to see complex self-management activities on paper, which makes them more actionable. Behavioral interventions, such as systems support mapping, may help colorectal cancer survivors facilitate self-awareness, create motivation for behavior change, and guide self-management.
Several risk assessment scoring systems have been proposed to assess the therapeutic response and predict long term prognosis in ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA)-treated primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) patients, in order to risk stratify PBC patients and guide their management. However there scoring systems have not been fully validated in Chinese population. This study is going to compare the prognostic ability of these criteria, validate the overseas scoring systems, develop and...
Participants will perform blood glucose monitoring (BGM) over the course of 14 days and, in parallel, wear continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems. Because current CGM systems typically achieve a lower level of analytical accuracy than BGM systems, participants will perform at least 5 blood glucose (BG) measurements per day. In addition, CGM systems are used to obtain minimally-invasive high-frequency glucose measurements to fill the gaps between BG measurements.
Optimizing the prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission cascade minimizes drop offs from one step to the next to maximize the benefits of antiretroviral therapy on maternal health and pediatric survival, growth, and development. This proposal scales-up a health systems intervention (the systems analysis and improvement approach - SAIA) that packages systems engineering methods (including cascade analysis, flow mapping, and continuous quality improvement) and was previousl...
Hypothesis 1 (H1): Epicardial biventricular pacing is a safe and feasible method of pacing in young patients. Over the last two years, physicians at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta have been implanting epicardial BiV pacing systems in children determined to have ventricular dyssynchrony caused by numerous cardiac diagnoses. The decision to use these pacing systems was based on the knowledge gained by adult studies. Since the use of these pacing systems in the pediatric ...
A methodical evaluation of new CE-labelled Phonak Hearing Systems is intended to be conducted on hard of hearing participants to grant quality control prior to product launch. The aim of the investigation series is to ensure zero-defect overall performance of the new hearing systems as well as maximum benefit for the participant with the devices in comparison to previously outstanding Phonak Hearing Systems and to equivalent competitor devices.
Background: Few studies have investigated the difference of bacterial contamination between conventional reused ventilator systems and disposable closed ventilator-suction systems. The aim of this study was to investigate the bacterial contamination rates of the reused and disposable ventilation systems, and the association between system disconnection and bacterial contamination of ventilator systems. Methods: The enrolled patients used a conventional reused ventilator system...
The purpose of this study is to develop computational methods for cross-comparison of muscle composition measurements in three laboratory ultrasound systems.
A methodical evaluation of new CE-labelled Phonak Hearing Systems is intended to be conducted on hard of participants with a hearing loss to grant quality control prior to product launch. The aim of the investigation series is to ensure zero-defect overall performance of the new hearing systems as well as maximum benefit for the participant with the devices in comparison to previously outstanding Phonak Hearing Systems.
A methodical evaluation of new CE-labelled Phonak Hearing Systems is intended to be conducted on hard of participants with a hearing loss to grant quality control prior to product launch. The aim of the investigation series is to ensure usability, zero-defect overall performance of the new hearing systems as well as maximum benefit for the participant with the devices in comparison to previously outstanding Phonak Hearing Systems.
Assessment of postoperative pain after root canal treatment using different rotary systems.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether THC, the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, affects functional brain systems underlying memory and reward.
The purpose of this study is to examine how the immune systems of HIV-infected patients react to 2 anti-HIV drug combinations.
Traditionally, laparoscopy has been based on 2-dimensional (2D) imaging, which has represented a considerable challenge for those approaching this technique. Thus, 3-dimensional (3D) visualization technology for laparoscopy has been proposed, since the early 1990s, as a way to facilitate laparoscopic performance. However, early 3D laparoscopic technology was limited in terms of image quality, so that its use had not been implemented. More recently, industry has developed novel ...
Introduction: Three-dimensional key-hole surgery ('laparoscopic') systems are proven to reduce the time required to complete tasks in laboratory settings. This benefit derives from the addition of binocular depth perception cues when compared to two-dimensional (2D) systems. This year a '4K' laparoscopic system has become commercially available, so-named as it provides a high resolution 2D image with four times the number of pixels of 2D full high definition. The improved visua...
The purpose of this study is to compare the quantity of fat that is released into the venous system (blood) by reaming the femoral canal during intramedullary nailing of the femur using two different reaming systems.
The study will evaluate the pharmacokinetics of testosterone transdermal systems at steady-state in hypogonadal men.
