Rockland Chrysler Dodge Jeep continues their support for the Foundation Fighting Blindness with the Blind Egg Challenge.

Nanuet, NY (PRWEB) August 22, 2014

In a continued effort to support the Foundation Fighting Blindness, Rockland Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram is launching an awareness campaign inspired by the ice bucket challenge. The Blind Egg Challenge (#blindeggchallenge or #ffbBEC) aims to raise awareness and funds for the cause.

The Blind Egg Challenge involves throwing an egg in the air and trying to catch it while blindfolded. Participants nominate at least three others and if a nominee does not complete the challenge within 24 hours of being nominated, they must donate $100 to the Foundation Fighting Blindness. The simple challenge gives participants a feeling of what it is like to be visually impaired and raises awareness about the diseases the Foundation Fighting Blindness aims to prevent.

Started in New York, the challenge has already incurred participants as far as California. Every entry helps the cause of the Foundation Fighting Blindness, whether it incurs a donation or spreads the word.

The Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) has been raising awareness since 1971. The foundation has over 50 volunteer groups across the United States and has been praised for accomplishing advances in retinal research. FFB invests in research and development programs that are aimed to prevent and treat eye diseases.

“My goal is to help fund that research and spread awareness for all of the many eye diseases,” said Vincent Odoardi, general manager of Rockland Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, “you can help restore sight to millions living in darkness by completing the blind egg challenge, making a donation, or attending a VisonWalk near you.”

About Foundation Fighting Blindness
The Foundation Fighting Blindness is a national non-profit organization driving the research that will lead to preventions, treatments and cures for retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration, Usher syndrome and the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases that affect more than 10 million Americans. Since 1971, the Foundation has raised nearly $550 million as the leading non-governmental funder of inherited retinal research. Breakthrough Foundation-funded studies using gene therapy have restored significant vision in children and young adults who were previously blind, paving the way for additional clinical trials to treat a variety of retinal degenerative diseases. With a coveted four-star rating from Charity Navigator, the Foundation also has nearly 50 chapters that provide support, information and resources to affected individuals and their families in communities across the country.
