LOUISVILLE, Ky. and TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- WellCare of Kentucky, a subsidiary of WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG), announced today that it will award $25,000 in micro-grants to support social service organizations in Kentucky that address care caps related to homeless and housing services, substance use disorder and transportation. Nonprofit and 501(c)(3) organizations that offer services in these areas are encouraged to apply. The micro-grants will be awarded in denominations of $500, $1,000 and $1,500.
"WellCare's micro-grant program in Kentucky allows us to build partnerships with organizations that are working to make a difference in their communities and in the lives of the members we serve," said Elizabeth Starr, manager of community advocacy, WellCare of Kentucky.
Qualifying organizations can apply by completing a short application online at http://www.thecommunitycommitment.org/micro-grant-request-submission. The application period will be open until Nov. 19, 2016. Awardees will be notified in December. For more information about the micro-grants, email email@example.com.
