Several antibiotics listed in the tables for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) performance measure for the Early Management Bundle, Severe Sepsis/Septic Shock (SEP-1) are not appropriate and their use is inconsistent with prudent antimicrobial stewardship, according to an expert work group.
