Electronic Structure and Energy Transfer in Europium(III)-Ciprofloxacin Complexes: A Theoretical Study.

The structure and ligand-localized excited states of [Eu(cfqH)(cfq)(H2O)4]Cl2 (cfqH is ciprofloxacin) are studied by XMCQDPT2/CASSCF with full geometry optimization. The complex includes one anionic a...

Torsional Dynamics and Intramolecular Charge Transfer in the S2 (1(1)Bu(+)) Excited State of Peridinin: A Mechanism for Enhanced Mid-Visible Light Harvesting.

Of the carotenoids known in photosynthetic organisms, peridinin exhibits one of the highest quantum efficiencies for excitation energy transfer to chlorophyll a (Chl) acceptors. The mechanism for this...

Mechanistic Investigations on the Photorearrangement Reactions of M(CO)4(CS) (M = Group 6 Metal).

The mechanisms for the photoisomerization reactions are studied theoretically at the M06-2X/Def2-TZVPD level of theory, using the five-coordinated M(CO)4(CS) (M = Cr, Mo, and W) complexes as model sys...

The excited-state decay mechanism of 2,4-dithiothymine in the gas phase, microsolvated surroundings, and aqueous solution.

The photophysics of thiothymines has been extensively studied computationally in the past few years due to their significant potential as photosensitizers in photodynamic therapy. However, the corresp...

Measuring Spatial Accessibility of Health Care Providers - Introduction of a Variable Distance Decay Function within the Floating Catchment Area (FCA) Method.

We integrated recent improvements within the floating catchment area (FCA) method family into an integrated 'iFCA`method. Within this method we focused on the distance decay function and its parameter...

NIPD on CFTC for Triplet Repeat Diseases

The purprose of this study is to develop and validate an analytical and clinical NIPD test for triplet repeat disesases by isolated circulating fetal trophoblastic cells (CFTC) analysis fr...

Aberration-Free Refraction Correction

In the interest of improving visual quality after LASIK we have designed a multifaceted study to test the theoretical, physical, biomechanical and functional effects of commercial and inde...

Optimal Insulin Correction Factor in Post- High Intensity Exercise Hyperglycemia in Adults With Type 1 Diabetes (FIT)

The overall objective of this study is to investigate the glycemic response of a 0%, 50%, 100% and 150% bolus insulin correction (based on personal insulin correction factor) of post-exerc...

17OHP for Reduction of Neonatal Morbidity Due to Preterm Birth (PTB) in Twin and Triplet Pregnancies

Hypothesis: Among women with twin or triplet pregnancies, weekly injections of 17-alpha-hydroxyprogesterone caproate (17OHP), started before 24 weeks of gestation, will reduce neonatal mo...

Study of FOND Versus FOND+O for the Prevention of CINV in Hematology Patients Receiving Highly Emetogenic Chemotherapy Regimens

The objective of this study is to compare the effectiveness of olanzapine added to standard triplet therapy (fosaprepitant, ondansetron, and dexamethasone) versus triplet therapy alone in ...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

The comparative and theoretical study of culture, often synonymous with cultural anthropology.

Type III intermediate filament proteins that assemble into neurofilaments, the major cytoskeletal element in nerve axons and dendrites. They consist of three distinct polypeptides, the neurofilament triplet. Types I, II, and IV intermediate filament proteins form other cytoskeletal elements such as keratins and lamins. It appears that the metabolism of neurofilaments is disturbed in Alzheimer's disease, as indicated by the presence of neurofilament epitopes in the neurofibrillary tangles, as well as by the severe reduction of the expression of the gene for the light neurofilament subunit of the neurofilament triplet in brains of Alzheimer's patients. Theoretical representations that simulate the behavior or activity of systems, processes, or phenomena. They include the use of mathematical equations, computers, and other electronic equipment.

The study of speech or language disorders and their diagnosis and correction.

A theoretical representative nucleotide or amino acid sequence in which each nucleotide or amino acid is the one which occurs most frequently at that site in the different sequences which occur in nature. The phrase also refers to an actual sequence which approximates the theoretical consensus. A known CONSERVED SEQUENCE set is represented by a consensus sequence. Commonly observed supersecondary protein structures (AMINO ACID MOTIFS) are often formed by conserved sequences.
