China Endeavor Registry: A Registry With The Endeavor Zotarolimus Eluting Coronary Stent in China

11:13 EDT 21st May 2013 | BioPortfolio

Summary

The safety and efficacy of the Endeavor(TM) Zotarolimus Eluting Coronary Stent System has been assessed in a series of studies. The stent is coated with a proprietary drug compound zotarolimus that is designed to reduce restenosis.

This prospective multi-center study has been initiated:

To document the acute and mid-term safety and overall clinical performance of the Endeavor(TM) Zotarolimus Eluting Coronary stent system in a "real world" Chinese patient population requiring stent implantation.

To assess the event rate in patient subgroups with specific clinical indications and/or vessel or lesion characteristics.

In total the plan is to enroll about 2200 patients from 37 sites.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Coronary Artery Bypass

Surgical therapy of ischemic coronary artery disease achieved by grafting a section of saphenous vein, internal mammary artery, or other substitute between the aorta and the obstructed coronary artery distal to the obstructive lesion.

Internal Mammary-coronary Artery Anastomosis

Direct myocardial revascularization in which the internal mammary artery is anastomosed to the right coronary artery, circumflex artery, or anterior descending coronary artery. The internal mammary artery is the most frequent choice, especially for a single graft, for coronary artery bypass surgery.

Coronary-subclavian Steal Syndrome

A complication of INTERNAL MAMMARY-CORONARY ARTERY ANASTOMOSIS whereby an occlusion or stenosis of the proximal SUBCLAVIAN ARTERY causes a reversal of the blood flow away from the CORONARY CIRCULATION, through the grafted INTERNAL MAMMARY ARTERY (internal thoracic artery), and back to the distal subclavian distribution.

Coronary Artery Disease

Pathological processes of CORONARY ARTERIES that may derive from a congenital abnormality, atherosclerotic, or non-atherosclerotic cause.

Gastroepiploic Artery

Abdominal artery that follows the curvature of the stomach. The right gastroepiploic artery is frequently used in CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS GRAFTING; MYOCARDIAL REVASCULARIZATION, and other vascular reconstruction.
